I had a terrible experience with Balsam Hill. I ordered a 7.5 foot Vermont White Spruce on sale for $669. The picture of this tree on the website was beautiful - the tree shipped to me was not. It was skimpy, there were wide gaps between the branches

My experience with Balsam Hill has not been a good one. This year we decided to buy a tree from Balsam Hill after having conducted an online research of the quality of their products and their company policy. We choose this company, because it appeared

I was totally unsatified with customer service to correct defective items.

Ordered a prelit tree from Balsam Hill and the remote and remote controller were not compatible (per service department)and didn't operate the on/off and light change. Store supervisor stated that replacements would be sent out overnight delivery. Waited one week, no replacement. Another call, another promise, more of the same. Three weeks later and no resolution. Promises or a return call from the customer service department has not come to fruition.
Delivery speed- good; order accuracy-perfect; customer service- down right awful; overall satisfaction- will never order again or refer others. Note: If you do not have a basic knowledge on wiring you might be in for a treat. The schematic wiring diagram leaves a lot to be desired. The wire connection plugs are matched by cheap plastic colored electrical tape. Most of which you'll find in the bottom of the box as most fell off during shipment or setting up the tree. Update 2/27/2008: Disputed the charge with my credit card company. Asked for a prepaid mailing label to send it back and the charge taken off. Yesterday, received from Balsam Hill, were replacement parts. Never did receive one return call from their customer service department. |

Customer service is mediocre. You can order a branch sample kit for $15.00. If you buy a tree, they will credit the $15.00 on your tree order.
I ordered a tree, then called to get a branch sample kit sent to me. They would not do it because I ordered the tree first. What is the difference? In either case the kit is free. I have several family, friends and coworkers interested in buying a tree and wanted to see the quality of the different types of trees. The stupid thing is this would save Balsam Hill money. They would have to credit less people for the sample kit. |
