Pros: Fast focus, very good optical quality, useful zoom range, compact, low weight, affordable.

Cons: Zoom lens movement is not smooth, some vignetting at large apertures.

The Bottom Line: Easy to recommend for its great price-to-performance ratio. Very good optical quality, fast focus, good build quality, and a useful zoom range. Much better than the average "kit" zoom lens.

Pros: All the "pro" level OPTICAL features, fantastic price/performance ratio

Cons: 67mm filter size, plastic construction, variable aperture, DX designation, focus ring in BACK?

The Bottom Line: it is a great companion to the D70 and ideally suited to those users who are looking for great optical performance but aren't rich.
