Focusing on preadolescent (Corey Carrier) and teenage (Sean Patrick Flanery) versions of the Indian Jones character, the series follows the future archaeologist's adventures as he travels the world, rubbing shoulders with some of history's famed figures. From going on safari with Teddy Roosevelt to waxing philosophic with Leo Tolstoy, the show is gently educational as it charts young Indy intersecting, often dangerously, with historical events. Produced under the watchful eye of creator George Lucas, these seven feature-length episodes chronicle young Indiana getting himself in all sorts of tight situations, and feature guest stars that include Vanessa Redgrave, Max von Sydow, Anne Heche, Lukas Haas, Elizabeth Hurley, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Pros: Great production values, good acting, writing, and cast. Interesting concept.
Cons: Not the original series as seen on TV.
The Bottom Line: Like the Civilization PC game series, Lucas' Young Indiana Jones entertains and educates in a fun way. This is not, though, a box set of the original series.

Six Degrees of Indiana Jones

Pros: Excellent production value, good educational content for kids, delightful locations & period settings, family friendly
Cons: Geared more toward children than adults but still entertaining, unusual editing choices, no Old Indy
The Bottom Line: An enjoyable extension of the Indiana Jones saga loaded with easy-to-swallow educational tidbits, supplemental documentary featurettes, and cinema-quality production. Great for kids and adults alike.
