Pros: A wonderful collection of short stories based on one topic.
Cons: It left me wanting much more!
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a story or collection of stories that spans 200 years in the same place, try reading the Blackbird House.

Pros: A nice collection of interconnected stories.
Cons: Lacked resolution. Too many repetitive symbols.
The Bottom Line: This book is a departure from Hoffman's typical style. Somewhat darker than her normal writing, the stories are compelling. As a novel, Blackbird House is lacking in resolution.
Review: Alice Hoffman is known for her sense of the supernatural. All of her novels include an element of magic and whimsy. Her writing is innocent enough to carry these themes without appearing childish or outlandish, and without losing touch with reality. ...
