Compact L-series telephoto lens with an Image Stabilizer which compensates for camera shake with the equivalent effect of a shutter speed two stops faster. Two Image Stabilizer modes are provided: Stabilizer Mode 1 (the same mode featured on the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM) and the new Stabilizer Mode 2 which steadies the image during horizontal or vertical panning. Mode 2 detects the panning direction automatically. The closest focusing distance is 4.9 feet (1.5 m). Minimize

This Old Workhorse Still Blows Away The EF 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Lenses

Pros: Very Compact & Well-Built With Real "Ring" USM, Rear Focus, FTM And Good Optics

Cons: In A Perfect World, It Would Be A Stop Faster

The Bottom Line: This Lens Represents Real Value. It Is Long, Relatively Fast, Silent And It Captures Beautiful Images, While Remaining Compact Enough To Go Just About Anywhere!

Best Buy...

Pros: Great for concerts!!!

Cons: often too strong of a zoom, for widely spread scenes closer than 100 feet.

The Bottom Line: It is the best lens for concerts b/c it's small enough to be able to get inside the venue, yet allows you for sharp, close pictures.
