The Pocket GPS Navigator is comprised of the iGPS hardware and the Ostia navigation software supplied on CD-ROMs. With the navigation software installed on your Toshiba handheld, locating your current position, or finding a destination or point of interest (POI) is fast and simple. Routes can be calculated and viewed. Once you're in your vehicle, simply activate the navigation program and begin traveling; the automated voice-prompts will instruct you when and where to turn. If by chance you go "off route," the automated voice will give an off-route warning. Simply push the "Action" button on your Toshiba handheld and the system will reroute you to your destination from your current position. Minimize

More development work to be done by Pharos

Pros: Nice hardware, and some cool features.

Cons: Buggy software, cumbersome map interface, unusable auto-router, and accuracy issues in maps.

The Bottom Line: At its current stage of development, this is a toy at best.

Review: Yes, it's inexpensive when compared to some alternatives, but the devil is in the details. These suppliers all differentiate themselves on the software and feature set since the underlying chips tend to be common, so this is where you will want to focus ...
