The Rancilio Rocky burr grinder uses slow turning commercial grade grinder burrs grinding wheels to cut the coffee bean into uniform coffee grounds. This is better than a standard blade grinder which usually does not produce uniform grind sizes. Consistent grind size is important to promote better taste and aroma. Pros: Heavy duty construction. Superb variations of grinds.

Cons: For regular coffee, use portafilter to transfer ground coffee to coffee maker

Pros: Extremely fine ground coffee. Clean operation. Can put dose right into the portafilter basket.

Cons: Dosages are not always even.

The Bottom Line: It is a beautiful appliance and well worth the money if one has an upper-end espresso machine.
