Emma Horton from MOVING ON reappears in this novel, but she is dying of cancer. Her mother, Aurora Greenway, is fending off suitors. This book was made into the 1983 feature film starring Shirley MacLaine as Aurora, Jack Nicholson (as a composite of Aurora's several suitors), Debra Winger as Emma, and Jeff Daniels as Emma's husband Flap. The movie simplified the story somewhat and toned down Aurora's feisty, cantankerous character. Minimize

Pros: An easy read, entertaining
Cons: Fluffy, weak characterisation
The Bottom Line: Read it to find out if you like it better than the film or vice versa
Review: Terms of Endearment is the sequel to Larry McMurtry's novel, Moving On. Emma Horton is a minor character in Moving On, and Terms of Endearment revolves around Emma's relationship with her mother, Aurora Greene.
