Not your grandfather's Olds...oh wait, that's not right!

by   avarno ,  Feb 1, 2006
Pros: Excellent overall package for the price of the low end model.
Cons: Transmission shift points under heavy acceleration? Stiffer shocks? An extending armrest is a must.
The Bottom Line: A solid, reliable and comfortable vehicle. More American sedans should be made like this.
Review: I recently had the pleasure of spending several hundred miles behind the wheel of a very new Buick Lucerne CX. Initially I had planned on renting a new Impala or Grand Prix, but was made an offer I couldn't refuse to upgrade to the Lucerne. Neither my ...

Buick Lucerne CXL - V6 Engine

by   wlhayes ,  Jan 3, 2006
Pros: Ride & handling. Large interior and trunk. Nice look from the outside.
Cons: Rear of car too much like a Chevy. The dash has a plain vanilla appearance.
The Bottom Line: I am considering buying this car, in the CXS version, because of the great ride, handling, and roomy interior and trunk.
Review: I rented the new Lucerne for the weekend, putting about 600-miles on it, highway and in-town driving. I currently have a 2003 Buick LeSabre, Celebration Edition, so I was interested in comparing the Lucerne to my Buick. The Lucerne is a gigantic ...

2006 Buick Lucerne CXL

by   engel14 ,  May 18, 2006
Pros: Interior, ride, and the V-6 3.8L engine
Cons: Front end looks
Review: My wife and I were so impressed by the all new 2006 Buick Lucerne CXL that we each bought one last Monday. The ride and quietness are the best ever for any GM product we have owned and that dates back to 1959. The dash and the interior of the CXL are ...

Good enough to save Buick--if Avalon and ES 350 buyers bother to consider it

by   mkaresh , top reviewer in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  Jan 24, 2006
Pros: Styling, interior fit and finish, composed chassis, smooth ride
Cons: Some materials could be a bit better, CX appearance, no HID or telescoping wheel
The Bottom Line: You don't have to be old to appreciate this Buick. It deserves broader consideration.
Review: A few months ago I was quite surprised when my father preferred the new Cadillac DTS to the sportier STS. I also found the big front-drive sedan's performance and interior fit and finish better than expected. Since then I've been looking forward to ...

Not Quite "Beyond Precision"

by   kkpohsib ,  Jun 11, 2006
Pros: Rear seat & trunk room, fit and finish, beautiful design in and out, and rebates
Cons: V6 & V8 lack power, no telescoping steering wheel, difficult to find comfortable driving position.
The Bottom Line: Buy this car as an alternative to premium mid/full-size cars and if you are a die-hard domestic car fan. Otherwise, you may be disappointed in the end.
Review: The new Lucerne is a giant leap forward for Buick. It's marketed as a direct competitor to the Lexus ES and other premium brands. Unfortunately, I do not think the car is quite up to snuff if you're comparing it to cars like the Acura TL, Lexus ES, and ...

Buick has put some work into this one

by   parkepubl ,  Dec 28, 2006
Pros: Fit and finish, power, ride, gadgets
Cons: rear visibility, turning radius, fuel economy
The Bottom Line: It is superior in many ways to its competition, if you dont mind driving a Buick.
Review: I am a mid 30's guy who never pictured himself owning a buick, or at least not until I retired. However, in test driving several cars (Ford 500, Chrysler 300 C, Impala SS, Buick Lucerne CXS) it was clear that for the money, the buick was the cream of ...

Instrument visibility is very poor on cloudy days

by   akdw ,  Aug 26, 2006
Pros: A well designed car that is very quiet to ride in.
Cons: I would not buy another buick if the lighting on the instrument panel isn't corrected
Review: Overall quality of the 2007 Buick Lucerne is excellent. Body and interior are well thought out and the car is very quiet on the highway. However, Buick engineers missed the boat when it came visibility of the instrument panel. On cloudy and dark days it ...

Acceptable mid-size car

by   mmvk ,  Dec 29, 2006
Pros: size, fuel efficiency
Cons: drive, sightlines
The Bottom Line: This is an acceptable midsize car
Review: I had the opportunity to drive the Lucerne for a week during my visit to Arizona. I drove the car for about 800 miles during the time. I have owned a Pontiac, Toyota, Nissan, VW and I currently own an Audi A4. I found the Lucerne to be a nice car, but ...

Buick Lucerne CSX

by   bj70117 ,  Jul 13, 2006
Pros: A large car that handles well with a smooth ride.
Cons: Poor visibility through the rear window.
The Bottom Line: You get what you pay for in this car. I would not recommend it to people who are considering an Audi or Lexus.
Review: The Lucerne is a nice car, richly appointed and designed to compete against European sports sedans. Does it do it? Well, yes and no. I does offer driving characteristics similar to some Euro sedans but it doesn’t live up to the fit and finish of ...
