Pros: Great zoom range, good weight, lens cap is included, good finish
Cons: rear lens cap, slightly heavy (but its not to bad)
The Bottom Line: it has a great zoom range, and its sharp enought for most people who buy this lens. Its light (considering its spec), and it has a good finish.
Review: This is the lens that I keep on my camera most of the time. I use a 350D, so I don't get the benefit of the 28mm. I actually get 45mm which is quite annoying, as most of my work is shooting bands. The lens is heavy, but its not so heavy that it's ...

Pros: Inexpensive, MASSIVE zoom range
Cons: A little soft, light construction, Slow.
The Bottom Line: A great buy, if you understand the limits
Review: This is a very good lens for many uses, if you understand it's limitations. It boasts a HUGE range- 28-300- going from ALMOST wide angle to Telephoto (ok, so on a crop sensor, it's not REALLY that wide...). This makes it an excellent lens for someone ...

Pros: Price. Versatility.
Cons: A little dark to look through. A bit heavy, but not too bad.
Review: I have had one of these lenses for four years. First purchased it for a film SLR and now use it for a Rebel digital XT. It works fine for all purpose photography. No, it is not the best out there and doesn't compare in quality to the more expensive ...

Try the Sigma macro version instead...

Pros: Small. Convenient. Sharp up to 200mm or so.
Cons: 300mm fuzzy unless severely stopped down. Plastic mount. Sigma macro version is sharper and cheaper.
The Bottom Line: If you're considering this lens, check out Sigma's 28-300 lens. It's sharper, better constructed, and cheaper.
Review: This review is based on usage with a Canon 300D digital rebel. I've heard bad things about all-in-one zooms like this. But when I got this lens, my first reaction was that it was better than I expected. It's pretty sharp up to 200mm, even wide open, ...
