An Amazing Yet Greatly Misunderstood Film

by   style414 ,  May 3, 2006
Pros: Realistic love story, Great Music, Well Directed, Realistic Portrayal Of Sex,
Cons: Can be too sexually explicit for some people,
The Bottom Line: See if you can watch a film with a freeform plot, and explicit sex.
Review: The film's intent is to give the viewer a glimpse of the relationship between Matt & Lisa. There is no plot, its only supposed to be a portrayal of the relationship. It's filled with music and sex for a very specific reason. The only time when they ...

Whatever Happened to My Hardcore Sex & Rock N' Roll?

by   thevoid99 , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Dec 11, 2006
Pros: Direction, Improvisation, Sound, Camera Work, Locations, Music, Stiley & O'Brien, & the Sex!!!
Cons: Not for Prudes or Those with Taste.
The Bottom Line: 9 Songs is a Fun, Rocking, F*ck Film from Michael Winterbottom w/ Loads of Hardcore Sex!!!!
Review: While having some success with films like Wonderland, The Claim, 24 Hour Party People, and In This World, Michael Winterbottom remains one of Britain's most prolific and unpredictable directors. In 2003, Winterbottom went ...

A Movie Review 4 U – 9 Songs (An X Rated Review)

by   daumco ,  Aug 20, 2006
Pros: realism

passionate sex

real sex

good acting

Cons: simple almost non-existent story
The Bottom Line: I found it refreshing to see a couple in a well done mainstream film actually making love instead of faking it.
Review: WARNING: This is an informative and irreverent review about an explicit unrated movie. If you are easily offended, please don’t read it. If you do, please don’t complain about it. “Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to ...

9 Live "Performances": Michael Winterbottom's 9 SONGS

by   xxxxer , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Oct 31, 2008
Pros: Unique story telling machinations, some nice music
Cons: Nearly constant graphic sex... or is that a good thing?
The Bottom Line: Explicit sexuality and live concert footage combine to be the sole story-telling agents in this experiment in plot development.  While somewhat interesting, it ultimately disappoints.
Review: I found out about this film shortly after it debuted in England circa 2004.  At the time, I was very interested in the live music scene; living in Philadelphia afforded me the opportunity to catch many a killer live show, and this film contains ...

9 Songs - Not worth singing about

by   jkafer ,  Dec 29, 2005
Pros: um, lemme get back to you on that....
Cons: story, characters, music, the whole shebang (so to speak)
The Bottom Line: The film is only 71 minutes long which is about 70 minutes longer than it needs to be.
Review: Let me start by saying that my wife didn't want me to write this review. She is a little embarrassed that we actually watched the film. 9 Songs is an independent film released in 2003 directed by Michael Winterbottom and finally making it's way to DVD. ...
