Pros: Wonderful performances. Stunning visuals. Decent adaptation of complex material.
Cons: Maurice Jarre's score can overpower the mood. Some cliche moments. Uneven pacing.
The Bottom Line: David Lean's adaptation of the E. M. Forster novel preserves the ambiguities and mysteries of the original while giving visual splendor.
