Pros: Historically accurate, covers more than the "Underground Railroad," good introduction to a difficult topic...
Cons: Byrd's illustrations aren't quite up to the task.
The Bottom Line: A good way to introduce your kids to Harriet Tubman.
Review: February is Black History Month, and as a history teacher, I have mixed feelings about that. Shouldn't every month be Black History Month? Should I hold off on teaching about Martin Luther King until then? And what about Native Americans, or Asians, ...
