Pros: Excellent cast, direction, everything
Cons: Butler sings like he's auditioning for Pink Floyd, which isn't that bad a thing
The Bottom Line: The film version of this story has finally been done right.
Review: If you have never seen The Phantom of the Opera on stage, then you are missing out on a true spectacle of sight and sound. Several different attempts have been made at making a Phantom movie in the past, but they have all been failures. When I heard ...

Pros: great musicals and vocals, great production, alot of drama, suspense, appeals to a wide audience.
Cons: Not much horror.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to watch a great musical or just a great movie.
Review: My previous experiences with musicals have not been all too pleasant., which is why I didn't even take the time to rent Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" until long after it had been released. When I finally did rent it, I was completely ...

Pros: Stunning to look at, great performances, memorable songs
Cons: Phantom made out to be a hero
The Bottom Line: This shows just what a musical can be.
Review: For years, movie musicals seemed to be a dying breed. There has been a recent upsurge in them, however. This movie version of the smash Broadway hit is one of them. And it will please fans of the genre. When new owners purchase the opera house in ...

Pros: Rossum, the rest of the minor roles, and great production values
Cons: Wilson and, to a lesser extent, Butler.
The Bottom Line: The bottom line wants to take Christine from the Phantom's clutches!
Review: I've been a big fan of the music from the stage production of Phantom of the Opera for a long time (yes, I know that makes me a Philistine to some of you), but I have never actually seen the musical. However, on my trip home last week, I was able ...

Pros: Great music, Beautiful scenery and effects
Cons: Some of the singing falls flat, Music not as gripping in the second act
The Bottom Line: This is a nice adaptation of the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, lacking a strong vocal talent for the Phantom.
Review: When I sat down to watch the 2006 film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, I approached it from an odd perspective. I had seen a professional version of the musical back in high school, but since I didn't already know the ...

Pros: Stunning, visually beautiful film.
Cons: Phantom's "disfigurement" was a cheesy make-up job.
The Bottom Line: For those who have seen and enjoyed the Broadway musical, this movie is a satisfying filmed version.
Review: Joel Schumacher’s Golden Globe-nominated film version of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musical “Phantom of the Opera” opens with a faithful recreation of the auction scene presented in grainy sepia-tone, a visual device that effectively ...

Pros: Great singing, orchestration, costumes
Cons: Garbled audio in several scenes, Most characters don't "pop," Plot technique removes menace
The Bottom Line: Worth watching for Emmy Rossum's magnificent voice and performance, "The Phantom of the Opera" is otherwise a startlingly average tale of love and obsession.
Review: I think the reason most horror movies do not play with narrative technique is that it keeps the viewer wondering who lives and who dies in a story. It's hard to have menace when the story is told in flashback by one of the characters. In fact, one of ...

Pros: Heartwarming, fun, and intense
Cons: language, brief mooning
The Bottom Line: Phantom of the Opera is an awesome show. It has suspense, drama, action, and for the girls romance. It has everything.
Review: Phantom of the Opera. One of Andrew Lloyd Webber's best productions. I had never really seen the Broadway show before the movie came out. But I heard some of the music and had read the book. It is an amazing story and was retold very well through this ...

Pros: extravagant sets, costumes, excellent music and songs
Cons: soul(romance and horror) is missing
The Bottom Line: Watch it for it's sheer spectacular visuals. Recommended for people who haven't read the book. But for the people who read the book, ready to get disappointed.
Review: The only Phantom I ever liked is the one in the book 'The Phantom of the Opera'. I am a great fan of this book and watched the movie only for that single reason. But I am disappointed to see that the major elements were missing in the movie. At the same ...
