PowerBook in the MacBook Pro era?

by   lawman67 , top reviewer in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Apr 11, 2006
Pros: Still faster than MacBook Pro for PPC-only applications, tried and true technology, amazing screen
Cons: Much slower than MacBook Pro on universal applications, underwhelming battery life
The Bottom Line: The perfect compromise between portability and useability, and even in the Intel-era, the PowerBook remains a premium piece.
Review: I recently opened my own law firm, and thus had the pleasure of buying a whole slew of computers. First were the two desktop machines, a 20" G5 iMac for my office manager and a PPC Mac Mini with a 19" LCD for my associate, both of which to be reviewed ...

Excellent engineering

by   mattelfesso ,  Mar 18, 2005
Pros: Excellent connectivity, snappy speed, good capacity, rock stable OS, solid design, superb software.
Cons: Sharp edge of computer is hard on the hands, track pad is too wide.
The Bottom Line: Built to last. Powerful enough to be your main computer. Consider a second keyboard if you're going to be typing for prolonged time periods.
Review: I've been using my PowerBook now for 3 months and it has proven to be a very well designed and reliable piece of equipment. It is very thin and light weight so I have gotten into the habit of carting it back and forth to work to work on ongoing projects. ...

Cons: somewhat heavy and music can't be heard without a headphone
The Bottom Line: If you are not a small person like me, this is a powerful machine to be around. It's a jewel for its looks, screen resolution, user-friendliness, and good design

Pros: wide, bright, sharp screen! auto dim feature. back-lit keyboard. intuitive operation. style, style, style!
Cons: airport reception poor. keys are "slippery". DVD drive is noisy.
The Bottom Line: great machine!
Review: I have had mine for a month or so, and it never ceases to amaze me. I especially love the backlit keys, cause I do a lot of work in the dark (poor sleeper due to back injury), and the auto dim feature of the screen- I didn't know it had that! I look ...

Love in my lap

by   karrera ,  Feb 10, 2005
Pros: Slim, light, innovative, easy to use, no viruses.
Cons: Screen can be too close to the keys when closed.
The Bottom Line: If you just do data entry and email, buy a PC and back up everything frequently. If you want a computer that does more, invest in an Apple.
Review: I am a die hard Mac fan. I have had better experiences with Macs than with any other computer. I am sure that Windows fans say the same for their PCs, but Apples ease of use and stable platform (not to mention the lack of problems with viruses) are all ...

by   ifixsolutions ,  Mar 7, 2005
Pros: a Unix operating system with a great user interface. so easy to use.
Cons: SOME business software isn't supported (call your vendors and check.. chances are it is.)

by   mickeystar ,  Aug 19, 2008
Pros: Great screen size, overall quality is great, great purchase
Cons: battery life needs improvement, sometimes a bit slow to load things
Review: I got my mac G4 used on eBay, and I must say that for this laptop being it's age, it's great! I had to replace the battery at first, since it does lose power fairly quickly and the one I had didn't hold a charge, but new batteries can be purchased ...
