Perhaps the best laptop on the planet today

by   lawman67 , top reviewer in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Jul 1, 2006
Pros: Incredible speed, drop-dead gorgeous, best-ever Mac keyboard, glossy screen, reasonable price
Cons: Integrated "Vampire" video, $150 "black tax", glossy screen
The Bottom Line: Except for the integrated video this is the perfect laptop. Even with it, its still perhaps the best laptop on the market today.
Review: Last month I reviewed the then-new Apple MacBook in its variouis flavors and came largely impressed. As an iBook replacement these represent the very best consumer portables Apple (or anyone else) has ever released, but as a 12” PowerBook replacement it ...

by   SimianFox ,  Nov 25, 2006
Pros: Excellent overall aesthetic & functional design, fantastic new features
Cons: New keyboard design feels different, glossy screen seems to increase glare
The Bottom Line: The MacBook (Black) is a nice improvement over the iBook. You'll love the new features. If you own an iBook, I definitely recommend upgrading to the MacBook!
Review: I recently upgraded from the Macintosh iBook G4 to the 13 inch MacBook (Black) and couldn’t be happier! Below I’ve listed and described the 7 biggest things Apple has changed (upgraded) since the iBook G4. Since most potential buyers are ...

Nearly ideal portable

by   gservito ,  May 24, 2006
Pros: Exceptional design, size, fit & finish; excellent software bundle
Cons: heavier than it looks; only 2 USB ports
The Bottom Line: A great portable for media hobbyists and students.
Review: I've had the black MacBook for a week now, after having used and built Windows desktops since 1992. My last machines were Windows laptops: A 75Mhz NEC, then a 600Mhz Acer (13"), and finally a VAIO S (also 13"). What I like: Cosmetically, the ...

Stylish yet Powerful

by   dabjork ,  Apr 13, 2007
Pros: Intuitive powerful and stylish.
Cons: a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it.
The Bottom Line: So intuitive it almost knows what I want before I do. Buy it. Buy it. Buy it. I could hardly afford it but I am so happy I bought it.
Review: AS I scientist, I bought this laptop to write presentations and access large powerful computers. It certainly was capable of those tasks but the little guy has floored me with how great it is. As a hardcore user, I am unaccustomed to actually LIKING ...

Great Laptop

by   shocktherapy ,  May 30, 2006
Pros: Portability, Power, beautiful design, Frontrow remote, iLife '06, good wireless range, the list goes on.
Cons: had to reinstall OSX, really... that's about it.
The Bottom Line: I would reccomend this Laptop to anyone looking for a good solid performer for less than $1,500
Review: I bought this laptop needing to have a recording rig more portable than my trusty iMac G5, and I must say, I'm very impressed. It's faster than my 2.0 ghz iMac G5 (it totally walked it in XBench!), It's absolutely gorgeous! I paid the "black tax" because ...

A black day for my PC...maybe

by   ehwang ,  Aug 29, 2006
Pros: Cool black color, great design, fantastic screen, usable software, long battery life.
Cons: Black gets dirty, chiclet-like keyboard, drive capacities, more expensive than other laptop options
The Bottom Line: A well designed laptop with some idiosyncrasies that I can live with. If you need speed over aesthetics, get a PC. But for the cool factor, this is THE one.
Review: I used to be a Mac aficionado back in the days of the Lisa, Mac 512K and Mac Plus, with my own little Appletalk network and even the LaserWriter Plus. At the time, it was state-of-the-art for doing things like graphics and desktop publishing. Heck, I ...

by   techrecs ,  Jul 30, 2006
Pros: Compact, fast, lightweight, excellent screen
Cons: Attracts fingerprints, makes mooing noises
Review: The MacBook is a high quality machine with only a few flaws. It is fast, compact, lightweight, and well-designed. Have no fear about the keyboard. It's excellent, despite its non-conventional looks. The glossy screen is beautiful; despite using it in a ...
