Encapsulates World War II

by   canyonlake ,  Dec 20, 2000
Pros: Determine World War II in two hours. Realistic Strategy.
Cons: Not Much Eye Candy.
Review: I had played Axis and Allies the board game over a decade ago. Although I enjoyed it, it was a bit tiring with all of the dice counting, etc. As soon as Axis and Allies came out for the PC I was one of the first buyers. I enjoyed the game but it was...

Great for a fan.

by   renckly ,  Jan 18, 2000
Pros: Great improvements and $10 rebate.
Cons: The computer still stinks at strategy.
Review: I have read the opinions of several people who were disappointed with this game. There is so much more to this game than just two new pieces. There is new music, which in my opinion is very good, there are new scenarios where you can play the game from...

The Axis & Allies are at war. YOU are in command.

by   alexdg1 ,  Feb 23, 2004
Pros: Faithful to the original board game, interesting PC-only rules-and-units options, ease of play.
Cons: AI tends to be very predictable, a few software bugs here and there.
The Bottom Line: Okay. It's old and there are new versions, but if you enjoyed the classic board game, this game's for you....
Review: If you are a frequent Epinions reader and have run into some of my reviews, perhaps you've noticed that one of my interests is military history, with an emphasis on World War II. Many of the books, movies, and even music CDs are World War II oriented, ...

Who wrote the book of [war]? Hasbro!

by   charivarius ,  Mar 25, 2001
Pros: music, options, gameplay, multiplayer, new units, new maps
Cons: buggy, unchallenging AI,
The Bottom Line: Must-have for strategy gamers, should-try for everyone else. Same game as "Axis & Allies" with some new units, scenarios, options. Same great game at its heart.
Review: Axis & Allies: Iron Blitz captured my heart last year, and I've had plenty of opportunity since that time to give it a thorough "testing." I loved it immediately--I rather suspected I might, as I loved Hasbro's initial "Axis & Allies" PC game [& board...

Great Game about War

by   david_lee ,  Nov 9, 2000
Pros: Real war type situations
Cons: sometimes freezes
Review: This game is great. It is the first war game that the computer actually thinks of ways to beat you and does not follow a set plan. I have played and attacked the frontal of the German Areas and then found myself being attacked by boats that had traveled...

Axis & Allies: Everything the First Game Should Have Been

by   dlh72782 ,  Aug 7, 2001
Pros: Excellent adaptation of Axis & Allies to the computer in every respect
Cons: Installation, online play doesn't work real well, minor bugs
The Bottom Line: This game is an excellent adaptation of Axis & Allies for the computer that is everything the first game should have been.
Review: Last year, this same team came out with Axis and Allies for the computer. The game was dreadfully stupid and fatally buggy. Axis and Allies version 1.33 finally got rid of most of the bugs, but although it added some intelligent decision-making paths for...

Say Goodbye To Disk Space

by   Lady_Pythia ,  Jan 19, 2000
Pros: The actual game is very good and entertaining
Cons: It eats up too much memory when it saves, and doesn't allow you to configure settings for saved games
Review: I bought this game for my husband who is an avid fan of games like "Starcraft", "Star Wars: Rebellion" and "MechWarrior". He loved the board game and thought it would be great if he had the computer game.

I gladly...

Could Have Been Better

by   pollack603 ,  Mar 8, 2000
Pros: Has two new pieces to put into the field
Cons: Not much different that the original
Review: When I heard that Hasbro was going to release the Iron Blitz edition of Axis and Allies I could hardly contain myself. As an avid fan of Strategy and War games I have found few that match the original Axis and Allies. Simple yet thought provoking...

More bugs than dead soldiers at Normandy.

by   Alkaiser ,  Jan 7, 2000
Pros: Won't have to worry about the pieces getting knocked off the board with the dice.
Cons: Bugs, AI flaws...much programming sadness.
Review: Now with the retinue of of RTS games, it's easy to forget that they had to come from somewhere. Before Starcraft there was Command & Conquer. Before C&C came Warcraft, and before that there were Dune and Panzer Dragoon. Before those were Panzer...
