A Cut Above

by   nagels ,  Sep 9, 2008
Pros: Great performance. Designed in Baltimore Oriole colors
Cons: Work time limited by battery life.
The Bottom Line:

This tool has  exceeded all of my expectations by far.
Those with larger yards should have a second charged battery in the wings.

Review: Being cordless is not always a good thing, like if you're playing a musical instrument, singing in a choir, or jumping with a parachute. On the other hand, cordless can be wonderful if you're talking about a phone, game controller, keyboard and mouse, or ...

Review: I got this cordless trimmer at Sears for $99. There was a special offer from B&D for a free battery, so essentially this came with 3 batteries, 2 in the box and one in the mail.My main purpose was to encourage myself to trim the farthest ...

Black and Decker Grasshog Rechargeable

by   toiletoctopus ,  Oct 3, 2008
Pros: Efficient, Easy to Use, Price, Doesn't use oil or gas
Cons:

Battery Charge

The Bottom Line: This is a great piece of equipment, that has worked even better than I expected.
Review: Although I look at lawn care, in similar light to a trip to the dentist, it is a necessity in Northern Virginia. While some communities have a laissez faire approach to grass regulations, the Fairfax Grass Police are always on patrol, and looking for ...

A good trimmer for a small yard.

by   wilson0423 ,  Aug 22, 2008
Pros: No messy gasoline or oil mixtures to deal with, automatic string feed, Environmentally friendly
Cons: Batteries do not hold a long charge. Not powerful enough for anything thicker than grass.
The Bottom Line: This is a great little trimmer if you have a small to medium sized yard. Anything larger will require a more powerful trimmer.
Review: The Black and Decker Grasshog is a very good little grass trimmer. The battery packs make it more convenient and cleaner than a traditional two cycle engine trimmer, and much better than dealing the long cords of other electric trimmers. As a bonus ...

Good for getting multiple jobs done

by   jspahn ,  Dec 17, 2008
Pros: Great example of a cordless tool as it should be.
Cons: Line it a little light for some jobs.  Thick, woody weeds will defeat it.
The Bottom Line: After two season's use, this tool is holding up better than I would have expected.
Review: Black & Decker Cordless Line Trimmer (NST2018).  My wife and I were in the market for some new lawn tools.  The corded line trimmer we had been using was nearing the end of its life so we decided to go out and get a new one.  I saw our ...

Pros: Easy to use, versatile, cordless!
Cons: Batteries will run out quickly, charger issues
The Bottom Line:

Great Value And Convenience

by   cavalier30_01 ,  Sep 22, 2008
Pros: Well balanced, quiet, and unlimited range of use.
Cons: Once the battery starts losing it's charge, performance degrades significantly.
The Bottom Line: Since it's electrical it is quiet and trimming grass/weeds won't disrupt a peaceful spring day or summer morning.  The self-contained battery pack permits an unlimited range of use.
Review: The last Black and Decker string trimmer that I owned was an electrical cord powered unit that lasted approximately 6 years. I had no desire to purchase a gas-powered unit because, A) they are noisy, B) those 4-cycle engines can be temperamental, C) ...

Affordable, Convenient, But Not For Tall People With Large Lawns

by   dstiehr ,  Aug 17, 2008
Pros: no gas to buy, no blades to maintain
Cons: may not be long enough for some people in terms of physical length and duration
The Bottom Line: Excellent value in the short and long term
Review: I've been using this weed trimmer for a couple of months now and there's a lot to like. I've always used electric cord-based trimmers in the past. and connecting and untangling extension cords was a chore I was sick and tired of. I compared several ...
