Music From The Heart - Drink Up!

by   lynus ,  May 12, 2003
Pros: Rock out emotional music that easily gets into ones heart.
Cons: Short album.
The Bottom Line: There's no doubt in my mind that Concrete Blonde is one of the best musical bands out there. I'm glad they are my little secret.
Review: Too often rock singers sing about love and drugs, life and drugs, being famous and drugs, rock and roll and drugs. We hear about such evils of being popular around the same time we hear about all the groupies and wild parties that ruled their hard...

Johnette Napolitano enough said!

by   IleneG ,  Aug 11, 2000
Pros: Johnette Nopolitano's sultry voice, amazing words,
Cons: none
Review: If I was to pick one album that I listened to most in my college career this is the one. Let me give you some history on how much this album means to me.

I started University of Alabama in August of 1990, coming from Florida, which in itself...

a must have.

by   supralurid ,  Nov 22, 1999
Pros: Great lyrics, deep dark vocals, all around extraordinary album.
Cons: none. This one is near divinity.
Review: This is undoubtedly Concrete Blonde's most well-known album, and for good reasons. Bloodletting is a complete package. As a whole it is a work of art, while each song is still distinct.

Most of you probably know Joey. In the Philadelphia...

Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting: Helene's 90's Rock Nostalgia Trip, Part 3

by   helenekhoffman ,  Nov 25, 2008
Pros: Concrete Blonde's most consistent album, a few songs that are genuinely great.
Cons: Some *cringe* moments, especially "The Beast."  Slight melodies.
The Bottom Line:

Yes.

Review: Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting (1990) holds so much sentimental value for me that I probably shouldn't be attempting to write an objective review of it. It's one of my oldest CDs, and was the first album I bought from a band outside ...

Bloodletting - Concrete Blonde - 80s to 90s Classic Album

by   kparsons13 ,  Feb 9, 2004
Pros: Vocals are spectacular, unique on each song, a must have album
Cons: Wish they were still a band together
The Bottom Line: Bloodletting is a great rock album from the early 90s and still sounds magnificent.
Review: Yesterday I went to look at books at a Used Book Store around the corner from where I live. I wasn't expecting to see all the Used CDs they had in their collection being a Used Bookstore. My fiance and I were so excited to find 5 cds we liked, didn't ...

The Darkness in All Things

by   lunchbuddy ,  Jan 20, 2007
Pros: Title track; Joey; Tomorrow, Wendy
Cons: Lullaby
The Bottom Line: I strongly recommend this CD to complement your darkest moods.
Review: In 1990, I heard a song on the radio that I knew I would love forever. It was "Joey" by Concrete Blonde. The melody and instrumentation on the song were terrific, but what hooked me was the Voice. Johnette Napolitano has a voice - smoky, deep, grating, ...

Leave On The Lights

by   katmar ,  Dec 4, 2000
Pros: Amazing vocals, solid writing, haunting imagery, sad, fun, and stylistic, unique, worth talking about
Cons: Some may find Tomorrow, Wendy to be offensive in a certain ways
Review: I first heard Concrete Blonde when I was at work one night. I worked in Data Processing, 11pm to 7am, on the top floor of a hospital in Pittsburgh. I was sitting in my chair reading a magazine, with the radio on low, as to keep the cr*p that was...

Dark, Scary, and Beautiful

by   Ravenskya ,  Sep 5, 2001
Pros: Lyrical, beautiful, dark and haunting
Cons: Too many Vampires mentioned
The Bottom Line: If you are into the dark side, this is your soundtrack
Review: Let me begin by saying that I didn't buy this album. Some drunken friend of mine must have left it in my car. At some point, either out of boredom or intrigue I popped it into my CD player. Needless to say I never gave the original owner their CD...
