Brother Odd

by   princesacaida ,  Feb 20, 2008
Pros: It has a winning combo of suspense, humor and the supernatural.
Cons: It is currently the last of the series.
The Bottom Line: In conclusion I would totally recommend it to any Dean Koontz fans.
Review: I bought this book prior to reading the first one "Odd Thomas". I had been warned about how good this series is and I did not wish to start the series until I had all that was available. Boy am I glad I did it that way. In the first book you end up in a ...

Brother Odd

by   literalview ,  Jan 5, 2007
Pros: Likable/lovable character Odd; Koontz flying high with one of his best characters.
Cons: A few hanging threads that dangled beyond the ending.
Review: Available in hardcover at the time of this writing, Brother Odd is a great installment in the 'Odd Thomas' collection by Koontz. Hopefully it won't be the last. Koontz writes with wonderfully clear and colorful language to bring us a story filled ...

He Ain't Odd...He's My Brother

by   cmaw63 ,  Mar 18, 2007
Pros: Odd Thomas, Brother Knuckles, storyline
Cons: Quantum foam and physics?!?!
The Bottom Line: Odd has found his humor again.
Review: One would think that with the name Odd, life had handed you enough problems. Throw in the ability to see dead people, bodachs and psychic magnetism with the moniker of Odd... then life is a combination of terror, obligation and humor. In ...

Brother Odd: Koontz Gets Back On Track

by   jcare ,  Apr 1, 2007
Pros: Odd is back on track. Better character development. Cakes.
Cons: A manufactured evil. Still a few random plot lines.
The Bottom Line: A definite read if you are (a) a Dean Koontz fan, (b) like macabre, yet humorous fiction or (c) were born in a year with an odd number in it.
Review: The Top Line Dean Koontz published O dd Thomas in 2003 and immediately created one of his best characters. He then released the abysmal F orever Odd in 2005 and you wondered ...

The third installment in, hopefully, a series of many

by   escdmom ,  Jan 2, 2007
Pros: Embraceable characters. Lovely and enlightening descriptions of monastic life. Frequent humorous comments.
Cons: Typical Koontz ending. Sloppy, choppy and filled with techno-babble.
The Bottom Line: If you liked Odd Thomas, this is a beautiful novel that respects what we know of this brilliant character.
Review: I received this book for Christmas from my husband. He knew that I was enthralled with the first book, somewhat content with the second book, and anticipating the third. Dean Koontz has stumbled upon a character that just resonates kindness, ...

Brother Odd

by   akimbo_angel ,  Feb 2, 2007
Pros: Good characters, and wonderfully intense at times.
Cons: To fast and to short.
Review: I received this book as a gift. It is book three of three featuring a memorable character named Odd Thomas. The characters were interesting, but, unfortunately, did not have enough background for my taste. This book is a bit faster than the first two,and ...

Brother Odd, Elvis and a Dog Named Boo

by   saturn82243 ,  Mar 28, 2007
Pros: Odd brings a touch of humor to dealing with the dead.
Cons: I would've loved to hear more about Odd and Stormy.
Review: Odd Thomas is much like any young man out there; he's loved and lost, comes from a community of good friends, has a job that he loves as a fry cook and, oh yeah, he can see dead people that walk among the living. Odd and Elvis are back and Koontz does ...

The Oddest of the Trilogy

by   gemmonk ,  Mar 22, 2007
Pros: Characters, Accurate portrayal of Monastic life
Cons: Physics aspect--way too confusing.
Review: Brother Odd is third in the trilogy of books by Dean Koontz: Odd Thomas, Forever Odd, and now Brother Odd. I have read all three of the books, and this was by far the most bizarre of the novels, but surprisingly entertaining. I would definitely recommend ...

Too Odd!!

by   le_domaine ,  May 8, 2007
Pros: life of children with disabilities featured
Cons: attempts at light-hearted, sarcastic narrative for main character grows old; too frequent references to 'oldies'
The Bottom Line: Dean Koontz has been a long-time favorite of mine. Brother Odd was not befitting his past works. This one did not work for me as a stand alone.
Review: Did I expect too much? Dean Koontz, in this third book about a young man with the ability to speak with, see, and intercede with supernatural forces and beings, did not deliver what I had anticipated. Brother Odd, Koontz’s 2006 bestselling ...
