Dr. Freudine Approves Of Miss C's Sex Therapy With Cyrano de Bergerac~

by   jankp ,  Dec 27, 2003
Pros: beautifully poetic; compelling story and Cyrano with the rest of characters supporting him
Cons: no footnotes to explain an occasional reference or French humor, but I didn't really mind
The Bottom Line: Pretty quick, entertaining read that may remind you of Don Quixote.
Review: Author’s Note--Beautiful sex surrogate Miss Cunengonde has something to prove after the debacle of Down With Love and here she finally does! Dr. Freudine, my psychiatrist, is duly impressed. Last time we saw her she was too frustrated to ...

The King of Romantic Tragedy!

by   QuinnElaine ,  Jan 28, 2002
Pros: lyric, inspiring, and still relevant!
Cons: I can never get through it with dry eyes!
The Bottom Line: A timeless and beautiful work!
Review: Speak of Romantic Tragedy, and everyone sighs for Romeo and Juliet, but for me it has always been Cyrano! Personally, I am of the opinion that Romeo and Juliet is more of a classic example of Black Comedy, but I digress...This review will reveal details,...

Cons: The only con is the fact that you haven't read it.
The Bottom Line: what else to say... it was nominated for the Booker Prize
Review: Why are the good novels unheard of by the very people who should be reading them?

I am an extremely picky reader, rarely do I find an author that I feel comfortable recommending to others, this book, Vanderhaeghe's absolute best, was enough to...

by   snpmurray , top reviewer in Books at Epinions.com ,  Nov 3, 2003
Pros: Poetry and passion, honor and tragedy!
Cons: The occasional 2-d character
The Bottom Line: Read this play if you enjoy stories of honor, panache, or tragic love stories. If you don't, then don't!
Review: Set in Paris in 1640, this is the tale of the life and love of Cyrano De Bergerac, poet, soldier, and grandiose hero. Phew! There was a real Cyrano De Bergerac running around Paris at the time this book is set in, but all that is taken from him in this ...
