by   Bruguru ,  Oct 28, 2004
Pros: Wonderful prose, fascinating characters, enduring tale.
Cons: A bit lengthy at times.
The Bottom Line: It put the bite on me from the very first page.
Review: The legend of the vampire seems to be one of the most enduring of all time. Arising from superstitions and fears that have plagued mankind for centuries, vampires are the most intriguing and complex of all the monsters we have created. They threaten ...

A perfect pick for Halloween!!

by   rubal888 ,  May 14, 2003
Pros: very descriptive language, that makes imagination more realistic.
Cons: so many points of view make things confusing sometimes
The Bottom Line: DRACULA is an astonishing novel in which you yourself, take place. It's a classic!
Review: What do you think of when you hear the name Dracula? Chances are, you probably think of vampires in the dead of the night, coffins, and lots of blood. Bram Stoker’s Dracula is not only that, but so much more. There are tons of little themes and...

by   daltonpenguin ,  Sep 18, 2006
Pros: end of chapters are intense, makes you want to keep reading
Cons: a little gory
The Bottom Line: everyone who gets a chance should read this book. It is so deep and you can picture all of it happening in your head.
Review: In the middle of the night as I lay on my bed, noises seem to be coming from everything. I can't stop thinking about being watched. I feel as though someone is breathing over me, ready to grab my neck and start ripping their teeth in. I feel sick to my ...

by   ram_cv ,  May 30, 2004
Pros: Good plot, Great characters, Novel writing style.
Cons: At times too slow, takes time to mature in the beginning.
The Bottom Line: Dracula is a unique horror masterpiece and a must have in any classics and horror fan.
Review: Little must have Bram Stoker known when he penned "Dracula", that he was creating one of most popular and feared characters in the history of literature. "Count Dracula" and "Frankeinstein" are two of the most feared characters in all of literature... ...

Pros: Well written. Different
Cons: Epistolary novel format.
The Bottom Line: This unique novel is a classic you do not want to miss!

The Archtypical Vampire

by   jackdad ,  Aug 25, 2001
Pros: Classic recounting of great evil and a masterful horror book.
Cons: Written in many voices adding some confusion to the plot.
The Bottom Line: This book should be read by all interested persons. It is the genesis of the many vampire tales and stories which have sprung from it in many media.
Review: Various reviewers refer to Dracula as “A Romanian count” or by similar terms. As we note in Bram Stoker’s remarkable book, this is not correct. Speaking of his ancestry in a conversation with Jonathan Harker early in the book, Dracula describes...

Victorian Horror

by   ArnieHarris ,  Jan 26, 2001
Pros: Classic horror narrative
Cons: Quaint, sentimental Victorian prose might alienate some readers
The Bottom Line: A horror classic, made all the more terrifying by the decorous prose package in which it is wrapped.
Review: Aside from its being the great granddaddy of the the durable vampire genre, one that seems, like the fiends themselves, to have achieved a perverse immortality, the horror classic "Dracula" offers revealing glimpses into the ambiguities and paradoxes...

The Real Dracula -- He Terrorized Victorian Society, Now He'll Terrorize You!

by   watac ,  Jul 17, 2001
Pros: Very scary, great symbolism, good vampire stories, a classic.
Cons: The story is tell largely via letters -- that might bother some readers.
The Bottom Line: It's a classic, but it's still scary. You must read this book!
Review: This original Dracula story is the best -- everything else is just a cheap knock-off. Bram Stoker's masterpiece is still terrifying.

I read this book purely for entertainment. Although it starts slowly, after a few chapters, I couldn't put it...

Dracula

by   photo_girl ,  Sep 3, 2000
Pros: Entertaining
Cons: A bit scary
Review: What do you think when you hear the name Dracula? Most of you will probably say blood-sucking, vampire, or bat. But did you ever think beyond that?

Before I read the book I thought that it would just be about a vampire who went around...

Allow Me to Introduce You to... DRACULA!!

by   darouedu ,  Jan 24, 2000
Pros: Excellent Story, imagery
Cons: difficult to read in places due to outdated dialects
Review: One good way to ensure a story is going to be a hit is to feed on the fears and frights of the culture you are writing it for. Vampires were a very real source of horror for the culture in which Dracula was written for. Dracula, a freakish book...
