Clancy without the time commitment.

by   caponeduke ,  Sep 16, 2004
Pros: Fast, enthralling read. Spy novels get no better
Cons: Predicable ending. You will not care though.
The Bottom Line: Vince Flynn's best work and hands down one of the most entertaining books I have read in the past three years!
Review: Transfer Of Power is a great book, from the introduction of super spy Mitch Rapp in the opening chapters to the predictable yet fulfilling ending. This is Vince Flynn's second novel and his first with the character Mitch Rapp, a black ops CIA assassin. ...

One of the most power, and not bound by the usual constraints.

by   mdchlanda ,  Dec 1, 2005
Pros: Tough character, no punches pulled, solid story and tells it like it is.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: Get this book, and all his books (I did) as well as Baldacci's-they're solid stories, with great characters.
Review: This book, like all of Mr. Flynn's books, features Mitch Rapp, an operative that isn't constrained, as he real life counterparts are, by "rules". Rapp is like our government should be - not bound by playing by "Marquis de Queensbury" rules so to speak, ...

A very addictive read.

by   christophemd ,  Sep 4, 2000
Pros: hold you attention to the end, page turner, witty dialogue
Cons: None
Review: If this book was anymore addictive it might be outlawed. This is a great page turner. I could not put it down. Just when you think nothing else could happen it does. This book is full of suprises.

It makes you think about how vunerable...

Transfer of Power: 21st Century James Bond

by   bledsoe43 ,  Dec 7, 2008
Pros: This book will keep you up into the wee hours of the morning.
Cons: The possibility of people actually taking over the white house is minimal at best.
The Bottom Line: Read this book!  It will give you new insights into the war on terror.
Review: Vince Flynn is the master of his genre. As an avid political thriller reader I have experienced both compelling, realistic novels, and I have also encountered books that are better off not written. These travesties of books are based on non-realistic ...

Flynn has established himself as the new Spy Master.

by   cherrywithns ,  Dec 18, 2003
Pros: Easy to read, exciting, keeps you interested
Cons: hard to put down, you may forget other things around the house.
Review: Reading a Flynn novel, is like picking up a Newspaper. It's timely and exciting. He keeps you on the edge of your seat with memorable characters. If you read one of his novels, you will be checking for all his others. If you like spy novels, read ...

The Ultimate Brainless Beach Book

by   jcare ,  Jun 15, 2000
Pros: Fast paced, action thriller.
Cons: Intellectually challenging it is not
Review: Shoot 'em up. Knock 'em down. Arab terrorists take the White House.

Vince Flynn has written what I now consider to be one of the ultimate beach books of all time. What is a beach book ? Its a book you can read with about 5% of your brain...

"Die Hard" At the White House

by   jeff_wilder78 ,  Jul 28, 2001
Pros: Engaging story draws you in.
Cons: Not intellectually stimulating.
The Bottom Line: "Transfer Of Power" is a perfect example of paperback escapism.
Review: "Transfer Of Power" by Vince Flynn is a perfect example of paperback escapism. It's an engrossing adventure novel that is similar in spirit to the "Die Hard" movies and "Air Force One".

In fact, I can see them making a movie version of this...

Evil villains, brave heroes, inept politicians and a damsel in distress

by   gaviidae ,  Jun 6, 2006
Pros: Gets off to a fast start and never slows down!
Cons: Melodrama bordering on camp---
The Bottom Line: Easy readin'! No big words, no long paragraphs, no difficult concepts! Pure recreation!
Review: "Transfer of Power" is the second of eight novels by Minnesota author Vince Flynn following his initial effort, T erm Limits. Each of his novels have made the New York Times Best Seller list, and it would ...

No Clancy here

by   doakley64 ,  Jun 27, 2000
Pros: Entertaining at times, especially the last third of the book
Cons: Poor plot line, paper-thin writing at times
Review: Before I begin my review, let me say that this book makes for good reading - I stayed up until 2:30 last night to finish it - if you don't think too hard about what you are reading.

The premise of the book is a rather unusual one - that a...
