Excellent Unit

by   diplodocus ,  Feb 23, 2007
Pros: Superb scan and print quality at any level, whether photo or documents
Cons: Supplied Scan/Print software
The Bottom Line: Superb print quality
Review: I must say I was very much skeptical about buying this unit after reading a couple of bad reviews on here… but once it went on sale, it was an offer I could not refuse… so I bit the bullet and got the unit … and let me tell you friends, this ...

Good Multifunction unit for the price

by   thrasher32 ,  Mar 20, 2007
Pros: Copy, scan, fax, print conveniently; low cost printer cartridges; good price
Cons: So-so picture prints; prints slower than claimed; 10 page sheet-feeder; 100 page paper tray
The Bottom Line: Good solid all-in-one unit for home or small office.
Review: Time for a new printer I had been using a HP Deskjet photo printer (Deskjet 790c) for the last 5 years, and it recently started making an ugly grinding sound, so I figured it was time to second hand it to the kids and buy myself a new printer. I ...

Networked color printer, scanner, and fax that's OK for occassional use

by   simongurda ,  Mar 17, 2008
Pros: Network printing, scanning, and faxing at a reasonable price with separate cartridges for each color.
Cons: Paper jams, some mediocre paper feed issues, 4x6 tray is not useful.
The Bottom Line: Great secondary printer, only OK as a primary printer. I don't regret getting it and would recommend it to someone who needs a scanner to be shared with multiple computers.
Review: Given that I have a Samsung laser that I use for everyday printouts, I needed something to do color. Also, I was sick of having to photocopy materials for work so I decided to get a unit that has a scanner with a document feeder. After a little ...

The Joy And Sorrow Of Brother

by   purposelady ,  Jun 25, 2008
Pros: The ease of scanning, printing, faxing and copying.
Cons: The not being able to use the machine if one ink is empty.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this machine because it is easy to use, and it possesses so many functions.
Review: I enjoy Brother products. I have a typewriter from this company that is almost twenty years old and still works perfectly. I have used other printers before--Lexmark, Hewlett-Packard and Canon--but I have not enjoyed them as much as I enjoy this ...

This time Brother did not Forsake me.

by   Manyacs47 ,  Apr 29, 2007
Pros: Versatile, good overall performance
Cons: No handset to allow out of the box use as second phone, expensive ink replacement
The Bottom Line: An excellent combination unit. More precise output should be performed on dedicated units.
Review: In hindsight, I was crazy to buy another Brother product. The Brother MFC 440CN was purchased, in haste, as a replacement for a now deceased Brother Intellifax Printer/Fax machine. The Intellifax 1828C was horrible right out of the box, so I must ...

A DEPENDABLE MACHINE BUT LACKS PRINTING QUALITY!

by   42ENGLISH ,  Jan 14, 2009
Pros: Easy to use.  Love the fax.
Cons: Ink prices.  Printing quality.
The Bottom Line: Love the fax...not too impressed with printing quality or ink prices.
Review: I bought my Brother Multi-Function Center 440CN a couple of years ago.  It is the only piece of computer equipment I have that survived the moisture of Hurricane Ike which hit us hard with an 18’ surge four months ago.  That ...

OK UNIT IF YOU LIKE TO BUY INK

by   jddog ,  Mar 15, 2008
Pros: For the Price print quality ok, and You get copier and scanner
Cons: Cant print Black if any color ink is low, Ink Cost is High
The Bottom Line: I wont recommend this machine based on the ink issue that stops all printing, and cost of ink for this model
Review: Im used to using HP printing devices but this printer was a gift.It has good print quality for its price range but the operation of the controls on the front panel are not very user friendly. Its not going to set a speed record either, however for the ...

good at first

by   fishface1234 ,  Jan 22, 2007
Pros: Small compact design with lots of features. Looks nice
Cons: Frustrating to use. Cheats you with unnecessary ink consumption.
The Bottom Line: I would go with Lexmark. HP has bad customer service and shaky products at the bottom end in my experience.
Review: Worked good at first but then got some nasty surprises. Network functionality died after about a month and had the revert back to USB. I do computer consulting and repairs for a living, and I could not get it working again using the network connection. ...
