The Caddy That Zigs

by   ruler88 ,  Dec 19, 1999
Pros: Winter Package
Cons: Small
Review: We get a lot of snow and you would think a rear wheel drive car would not handle very well here, but thats where you are wrong. Maybe not ever car handles so well but the Catera with it's winter package is great. It has heated seats, heated mirrors, and...

by   cowboyjason ,  Mar 10, 2007
Pros: Storage, Power, Comforts, Fun all around car, Heated seats front and rear.
Cons: Gas mileage.
The Bottom Line: I am going to look at another one today for the wife she simply loves my car.
Review: While i think the body styling could have been better i would not give up my Catera for even 30,000 Dollars today. Well i've heard it all now from people saying that they are considering a lawsuit to mechanic's that hate the car and people saying that ...

Small Caddy

by   andyhet ,  Dec 14, 1999
Pros: Ride and handling
Cons: Electric window switches
Review: I love my Catera. The Catera rides and feels like the Cadillac that it is. Being built in Germany it also shows the quality and craftsmanship of other German built cars. The interior is very roomy and comfortable both front and back. Most of the...

Affordable Luxury Vehicle

by   ropesoneone ,  Jan 20, 2001
Pros: Pretty car with many luxury features.
Cons: Reliability
The Bottom Line: It's a great car for the people that like the Cadillac line but prefer to drive a smaller car.
Review: This is a Cadillac for the people that don't like the giant boat size cars that Cadillac usually makes. We have a black on black that we find to be really pretty and sleek.
The inside of this car is packed with great features. Automatic seats with...

It does Zig!

by   tomluke ,  Dec 17, 1999
Pros: Fun to Drive
Cons: No where to put a coffee mug
Review: The Catera is a fun car. In the near luxury class the choices are limited and I wanted something American made (although I now know that Opel makes them in Germany). The car is fun, solid and comfortable. All of the comforts found in more expensive...

by   daa1275 ,  Jun 12, 2005
Pros: looks, handling, options, reliability
Cons: premium gas
Review: I purchased my 1998 catera back in november, and am impressed every day with this vehicle. I bought it from K&S Lincoln Mercury for $6100.00. I have had no problems, and truly love this car. I do reccomend purchasing this if you get a car fax report on ...

I enjoy it, but I miss my Saab

by   hweaver ,  Sep 9, 1999
Pros: Good value, good luxury features
Cons: Lacks spirit, speed and space
Review: I sold a 1993 Saab 9000 Aero when I bought my Catera in 1998, and I have rarely taken my Cadillac out on the open road without regretting that decision. Do you want to know why?

Let me start with some basics about the Catera: I think itÂ’s a...

Cadillac Catera - More like Dog-tera

by   shoplmart , top reviewer in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  Dec 11, 2001
Pros: Optional Onstar system, Smooth automatic, All weather tires, Leather
Cons: Only a 200 horsepower 3.0 V6, Plain styling, high price, Reliability issues.
The Bottom Line: Not recommended, with its high price, bad reliability ratings, plain looks, and average performance, There is much more out there for less money.
Review: Cadillac apparently thought that the best way to fight back against German and Japanese premium compact sedans i.e. the BMW 328i and Acura CL , was to build its own.. While not nearly as refined as the 328i, the 1998 Catera does have its positive ...

First Year - 8,000 miles

by   galant95s ,  Jul 22, 2000
Pros: features, sound system, smooth ride, quiet engine
Cons: reliability, under powered, low gas mileage (17-18 mpg), large blind spots, expensive repairs, RELIABILITY!
The Bottom Line: Too many small problems - it can get quite annoying. Mazda Millenia and Infiniti I30 are better choices in the same price range.
Review: Comfort and Amenities:
Very comfortable but seats could be better designed, only missing item - built in digital compass

Performance and Handling:
Average performance despite 200 hp 3.0 L engine (heavy car - 3,800 lbs)....
