Canon PowerShot SD800 IS Digital Camera - I Got Rid Of It

by   dkozin , lead in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Dec 5, 2006
Pros: Image stabilization that works well, face recognition, battery life, size
Cons: Price, red-eye, noise at high ISO
The Bottom Line: I like the Canon SD800 overall, but I think Canon could have had a lower price. For my money, I prefer Panasonic FX07 and...
Review: I have used Panasonic FX07 and FX50 and was wandering if paying significantly more for the Canon SD800 IS is justified. You can buy comparable Panasonic cameras for $80-100 cheaper. Heck, the FX50 even has a larger screen! I have always liked Canon ...

I am a happy snapper

by   tonyso ,  Jun 13, 2007
Pros: size , speed , wide angle lens
Cons: battery indicator and charging
The Bottom Line: Suits the happy snappers!
Review: There are plenty of technical reviews of this model and people that obviously know alot about cameras are happy to share their views. For my plain and simple 2 cents worth, keep reading. Firstly, it is small and light enough to keep in a ...

Great high-end pocket camera for the novice or average user

by   jman1783 ,  Nov 16, 2006
Pros: Great photos, tons of features, small, long battery life, image stabilizer, wide angle lens!
Cons: Poor build quality, no battery charge indicator, no focal length manual adjust
The Bottom Line: This camera has allowed me to enjoy photography again, since it's so small and yet powerful. With its great lens and capacity for low-light shots, it's an amazing asset.
Review: I'm no photography expert by any means, but after having been through a number of digital cameras in my day, and having taken hundreds of photos with this particular camera, I can say that the Canon SD800 7 megapixel Digital Elph is the best camera I ...

Wide Angled Wonder sd800 Ixus 850

by   richardc77 ,  Nov 13, 2006
Pros: Fast, 28mm wide angle, consistently very good picture quality, feature laden.
Cons: Some soft corners at 28mm and PF, as most P&S cams will have.
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend this camera to all types of users. It will produce the goods consistently and is a tech laden marvel. Buy it and enjoy.
Review: Actual sd800is picture examples. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8 0382525@N00/ I bought this camera as a replacement for the sd700. I wanted a camera that would perform as well as the sd700 but with a 28mm wide angle lens which i have been waiting for ...

Fast shutter speed great for pics of Kids or pets

by   tvyankeefan ,  Apr 9, 2007
Pros: 7 MegaPix+,superfast shutter,image stablization
Cons: No red eye and a little pricey
The Bottom Line: BUY THIS CAMERA if you like fast pictures, worth it for 7 mega pixs and image stabilization.
Review: We had a Sony that was three years old. Shutter speed was so slow that we could not get a decent picture of our two year old. She's fast and we wanted a camera that could keep up with her. I wanted fast, w/o using burst mode. This is perfect because it's ...

new to digital camera Canon SD800IS

by   bobsmith55 ,  Jul 17, 2007
Pros: compact for pant pocket; good indoor no flash pictures; stylish; clear 2.5" display;
Cons: expensive; display screen scratch (probably from keys in my pocket)
The Bottom Line: No regrets paying extra money for the SD800IS. The shutter lag is fast and indoor no flash pictures are good.
Review: I've just switched to digital from film, so I want to give you my thoughts on why I switched i) to digital and ii) to Canon SD800 IS. I need a point and shoot camera with some zoom capability that can fit in my pant pocket. I already had these ...

Completely beyond expectations

by   wxradar ,  Apr 5, 2007
Pros: Fast, good battery life, good controls, great point and shoot!
Cons: No AC or car power supply, you must buy a memory card.
The Bottom Line: Great point and shoot very quickly, reliable, no bad pictures. Needs added memory card, has no docking station.
Review: Tiny, sleek, well laid out, sits well in your hand, controls are intuitive and obvious. I had a Kodak Easyshare DX7590 which is a good camera but frequently had focusing problems and slow focus. I wanted a camera that gave me flexibility, control, as ...

I love this camera thus far!

by   runzwsizorz ,  Apr 18, 2007
Pros: I love the large display and sleek look.
Cons: There are some features I don't really need or understand yet.
Review: Well, I have had my camera for 2 months and I can't find anything I do not love about it. I have yet to learn all of it's functions, being that there is so much you can do with this camera, but I am in no hurry. It has everything, image stabilizing, red ...

Just What We Wanted

by   kindeyes ,  Sep 30, 2007
Pros: Excellent pictures.
Cons: just a little shutter lag.
Review: We wanted to upgrade from our old Toshiba PDR-M70 (which still takes terrific pictures after 7 years) to something smaller with greater resolution. Image stabilization was a requirement and the Canon SD800-IS filled the bill. We practiced with it for ...
