As a Refurbished All-in-One Printer (from Canon estore)

by   rinkevichjm ,  Feb 22, 2008
Pros: Lot of Functionality. Prints and Scans very well Easy to clear Paper path
Cons: No USB2 cable No cartridge chip reset Normal high ink use and cartridge prices
The Bottom Line: Cheaper as a refurbished model than the new MX700 and include higher print resolution, and duplexing that the MX700 doesn't.
Review: This printer has almost all the features you could ask for Two Paper holders (1) a cassette tray and (2) a rear paper feed stack - didn't realize the cassette was there at first and had to read the manual to figure out why it was asking for paper when ...

Good Printer but you might do better with something newer

by   okiealan ,  Feb 21, 2008
Pros: Automatic Document Feeder is outstanding
Cons: The print quality is not as good as the newer, cheaper printers on the market
The Bottom Line: ADF that can read both sides of a two-sided document is awesome and is extremely handy but the newer printers are cheaper and have better print quality
Review: Although I enjoy this printer I can not say it is worth the extra money for such little gain in performance over the MX700. Don’t get me wrong, it is a good printer but comparing prints of the same picture at each of their best or highest quality; the ...

Great All in One for the Price

by   klemeci ,  Jun 15, 2008
Pros: Separate color cartridges, auto-feed fax and copy, duplex printing
Cons: repair options under warranty
The Bottom Line: No jams after the repair
Review: I wanted an all-in-one with an auto feed for faxing and coping, as well as duplex printing capability. I got this all for under $200. However, the printer I received had problems with paper feeding and I had to get it repaired. Canon covered the ...

Happy with this printer

by   shalynne ,  Jul 14, 2008
Pros: Good print quality, does what it's supposed to do
Cons: A little slow, ink cartridges are pricey
The Bottom Line: Good for home use. Good quality photos - color doesn't fade.
Review: I've had my PIXMA for over 2 years now and can't say I have too much to complain about. The print quality is good. Now I'm not one to print multiple copies off different printers and compare each pixel. I'm just a mom who likes to print my own ...

good printer. good scanner. uses lots of ink.

by   jcsflyboy ,  Feb 18, 2008
Pros: had it almost a year now - no problems with software or features yet.
Cons: printing with all black text the colors will run out without printing any colors.
Review: Looks good and works good. After using a couple of months, I noticed it was using (and I was buying) a lot of ink. So I did a test. When I got all the ink tanks new and full. I printed nothing but all black text documents and such (using the "Printing ...

All in One Ink Guzzler

by   pixelita ,  Mar 24, 2008
Pros: Makes a hefty paperweight, papers guaranteed not to move
Cons: Slow, noisy, huge, surly ink-alcoholic with a grudge against faxing
The Bottom Line: Buy a budget laser printer rather than this beastie if you print in mostly black and white. Your significant other and your wallet will thank you later.
Review: My husband is somewhat of a Consumer Reports junkie, so it makes him happy whenever he finds one of their recommends or "best buys." Such is the story of how we came to house and feed the massive Jabba the Hut, aka the Canon Pixma MP830. I was ...

Unreliable

by   helsharmar ,  Feb 9, 2008
Pros: Multifunction, good photo prints.
Cons: Unreliable, hard to learn, poor customer support
The Bottom Line: Avoid this product.
Review: This product worked well for about a year, then the automatic document feeder (ADF) stopped working. It still scans and copies, but copies and faxes have to be from the glass, which means only 1 page can be faxed at a time. Since I chose this printer ...

My most regretted purchase in years

by   robchittum ,  Jul 13, 2008
Pros: Prints clearly and works as described.
Cons: INK HOG. Too expensive to use in the long run.
The Bottom Line: INK HOG. Won't send faxes when ink is low. Horrible machine. Don't waste your money.
Review: I bought this machine about a year ago after much research. At that time, the majority of reviews were very positive about this machine. It does work well in all respects but one. However, the one issue is a killer. That issue is the fact that it is ...

Back it Goes

by   relampico ,  Dec 21, 2007
Pros: prints nice crisp clear text and images
Cons: poor customer service
Review: this is probably a very good printer. What isn't very good is the amount of customer support that goes with it. After an arduous install of the printer, the OCR software package,ScanSoft OmniPage SE ( a lightweight version)failed to install after ...

PIXMA MP830

by   arm56 ,  Jul 8, 2008
Pros: Makes decent print copies, scanner works well
Cons: Noisy, long warm-up time, bulky. Did I mention that it EATS INK?!
Review: I have forgotten that I even had this useless paperweight until checking out a couple of reviews on printers. After reading a few and remembering my disappointment with the Canon MP830, I felt compelled to try and save somebody else from purchasing one ...
