Yes....I finally got my wide angle

Pros: Sharp, well made, important focal length on smaller sensor Canon dSLR
Cons: Price, bulky hood, 1.6 crop factor robs its ultra wide magic
The Bottom Line: If you love wide angle and high image quality than definitely give this lens a serious consideration.
Review: This is one of Canon's entry-level professional grades L series lens. The word entry level is usually associated with something affordable. Well in the Canon SLR world an affordable "L" means 700 bucks. A lot of cash for an enthusiastic hobbyist and I ...

the cheaper (not lesser) canon wide angle zoom

Pros: excellent image quality, solid construction, constant maximum aperture through zoom range
Cons: the 17-40mm f/4L may be a little too slow for some
The Bottom Line: I recommend this lens to anyone who is on a budget, but needs the wide angle zoom.
Review: Anyone looking for a wide angle zoom for their Canon body only has a few choices available to them. There is the cheap (EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 for ~$350), the not so cheap (EF 17-40mm f/4L for ~$700) and the uber expensive (EF 16-35mm f/2.8 for ~$1400). ...

Pros: Typical Canon "L" build quality...excellent. Silent AF, constant aperture, internal focusing.
Cons: The only negative is there is no hyperfocal scale.
The Bottom Line: For the landscape photographer on a budget, this is a must have lens to start your quality lens collection. There is plenty of focal range for flexibility.
Review: I’ll be honest here…this was not a lens that I had intentionally wanted to purchase. When I was selecting my lenses for a new Canon outfit, I had the ranges from 10-22mm and 24-70mm covered. I wasn’t all that concerned with the gap ...

A "must have" for lovers of (Canon) wide-angle lenses!

|
Pros: An ultra wide-angle zoom lens, well constructed, reasonably priced, yielding great image quality
Cons: Well, $700 is $700, reasonable or not!
The Bottom Line: This is a great lens to add to anyone's basic array of Canon lenses. Smooth operation, great images
Review: Back in the sixties (well before many of you may have been born), a number of top photographers like Horn and Griner (Steve Horn, Norm Griner), Bert Stern, Francesco Scavullo, Melvin Sokolsky, and Otto Storch were shooting fashion and illustration photos ...

Pros: Sharp optics. Great build quality. Good range.
Cons: Heavy. Expensive. Massive hood. No Image Stabilizer
The Bottom Line: A great landscape lens, and a great buy for "l" series Glass!
Review: I was in need of a lens to replace the 'Kit' lens that came with my Rebel XT, and found this lens was the one that fit the bill. I used it, and compared it in the field, to other canon lenses, and decided that this particular lens was what I needed. ...

Pros: Super sharp, beautiful to use, top quality, weather sealed
Cons: Need a bigger back for the lenshood! Nothing else, this is a GREAT lens!
The Bottom Line: I love this lens, it is a top quality lens giving top quality results at a price reasonable for what you are buying. What more can I ask for really?
Review: I recently upgraded my digital camera to the Canon 20D and decided I could not insult it by plonking my Sigma 18-50mm DG lens on the front. Very little point in having an 8.2MP sensor and shoving cheap grade glass in front that doesn't have the resolving ...

Pros: Sharp images. Contrast & color. Solid construction. A handsome piece of equipment. Pride of ownership.
Cons: None. Some may say it's too pricey. It's not.
Review: This is the first prime lens I have owned. Although I have taken only one roll of shots with it, I am very happy with it so far. It is lighter than I thought it would be. It balances well on my Canon ELAN 7. The construction appears to be top notch. ...

Pros: -focal length on 1.6x
-color and sharpness
Cons: -weight
Review: I tried a 28-70 on my 10D but always ended up frustrated because it was too tight, especially when shooting indoors and in crowds. After a lot of reading and debating I found a used 17-40 for $600 and jumped on it. What a great lens! The first big ...

Pros: Solid, sharp, bombproof. Buy it.
Cons: On the heavy side due to solid metal build.
Review: I use this lens on a Rebel XT. This lens is a very, very well built, and solid product. I am very happy with it and recommend it highly. I compared the EF-S zooms with IS and for the same money I have this L series lens with a MUCH nicer build quality ...

Pros: Compact for L lens, sharp, good colors, good built
Cons: no IS, not good for indoors/poor lighting
The Bottom Line: Great lens! Recommend!
Review: I have been a Canon enthusiast for years using most of their powershots S, SD, G series. I finally decided to try myself in dSLR photography. So, I purchased Rebel XSi / 450D body and 17-40 f/4 lens. Those are the very first lens I tried (after the kit ...
