by   rjcalnan ,  Dec 29, 2004
Pros: - truck when needed - SUV when needed - comfortable all the time
Cons: - big truck, lots of room for little rattles - gas, phew the gas!
The Bottom Line: Totally love this truck. Been a long time since I owned one, and couldn't be happier with my decision!
Review: 2002 Chevy Avalanche Z71 - Black/Black My wife and I picked up our 2002 Chevy Avalanche in September this year (2004) We bought it used with 34,000 miles on it, and for already being 3 years old we couldn't believe how brand new this truck still ...

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Four-door Top Truck's Adaptability to Consumers' Needs

by   charles ,  Jun 28, 2002
Pros: Great performance, smooth shifting, car-like handling, unlimited acceleration, multipurpose and great features
Cons: Mileage
The Bottom Line: If you want reliability, adaptability and security of your investment on the road, the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche is the right answer.
Review: Even if you are behind the wheels of this truck and get into a crash, I will not worry about you. You will walk out and start helping the injured in the other vehicle. That's the impression I got after driving this truck.

The 2002...

The Chevy Avalanche - Urban Assault Vehicle

by   bmi11er ,  Nov 6, 2001
Pros: You feel like Tango and Cash in their indestructible SUV.
Cons: Mileage, striking fear in the hearts of other drivers.
The Bottom Line: If you have the means, buy and enjoy. It is fun to see others looking up and trying to figure out who is driving this beast.
Review: Another concept vehicle has made its way from the auto show circuit to interfere with your daily commute. The only difference is that I wouldn't recommend that you cut this one off.

After spending some time in the cockpit of the North Face...

Truly the Ultimate Utility Vehicle

by   pruss ,  Mar 8, 2002
Pros: Highly versatile. Cool Styling. Quiet, roomy and luxurious interior. Smooth ride.
Cons: Low fuel efficiency. Too much plastic on the dash and center console.
The Bottom Line: The Avalanche truly is the best of both worlds. Those being the SUV and the Pickup Truck worlds.
Review: I will skip over the feature lists and such for the Avalanche and focus on the outstanding and the mundane, and compare to the competition.

The Interior:

Basically, as far as I can tell, there are no differences between the...

Mighty fine at 49k miles!

by   denali60 ,  Jun 26, 2004
Pros: Quiet. Excellent ride. Very useful.
Cons: Shallow cargo box. Z71 Tire noise.
The Bottom Line: I'd buy another in a minute. And with people paying $1.50 for a pint of bottled water, is the gas cost really a big deal??
Review: Good - This is the best riding GM truck on the market. - Very quiet (except for the Z71 tires) due to separate cargo area, and the cladding blocking road noise. - No leaks in the bed. - After 49k miles, tons of tread left on tires. Wow. - While the ...

We Get an Avalanche of Questions

by   dpgal ,  Apr 5, 2002
Pros: Versatility, room for the whole family
Cons: New model = working out the bugs
The Bottom Line: Definitely buy if you need a truck that can haul the whole family.
Review: When we decided to purchase the Chevrolet Avalanche, we had no idea how much the truck would interest our family and friends. We fielded an "avalanche" of questions from everyone about this vehicle.

THE DEAL:

Before Chevrolet...

Pros: BOLD STYLING, POWER, VERSATILITY, RELIABILITY, CHEVY TRUCK LONGEVITY
Cons: THERE ARE NONE TO REPORT
The Bottom Line: It's perfect for those who want the utility and comfort of an SUV, ride and handling of a sedan, and capabilities of a pickup truck, and much more.

2002 Avalanche

by   term2 ,  Dec 24, 2003
Pros: Great Car- Great Truck
Cons: Passes everything except a gas station
The Bottom Line: Most people use a truck 15% of the time. The rest of the time it needs to be a good passenger car. The Avalanche is very good in both categories
Review: I have driven my avalanche for about 12,000 miles and I am very happy with it. I use it as a car most of the time, but it comes in handy on those trips to Home Depot and to haul around DJ equipment. Power is great. Gas Mileage is a pretty steady 15 on...
