My second fantastic Cavalier, owned a 1997 and now the 2004...

by   cagney ,  Mar 15, 2008
Pros: Love the 2.2 Ecotech Engine.
Cons: No cons so far.
The Bottom Line: I recommend the Cavalier because I myself have never had a better car and I have owned 40 different makes.
Review: I love the style and classy look of the 4 door. It is very easy on the eye and wallet. I can not understand why there are so many complaints over a compact car, that is what it is so that is what you get. I did not buy mine for space, I bought it ...

Great car!

by   mckinli ,  Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Runs great, good gas mileage, fits 6'0" tall person comfortably, great customer service
Cons: Tight squeeze with a car seat, LATCH difficult to use, cd player skips when hot
The Bottom Line: GREAT first car. No maintenance issues, and the price is right. Tight squeeze if you're tall and have a car seat in the back. LATCH system difficult to use.
Review: The 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier is the first new car that I have bought. I had graduated from college, spent a year in L.A. and did not want a car, and after I moved to the east coast, it was time for a car purchase. I wasn't looking for much: a ...

A great commuter car! Terrific gas mileage and dependable

by   student47 ,  Mar 16, 2007
Pros: Reasonably comfortable, dependable, excellent gas mileage. Easy to maintain.
Cons: Small seats, not for the big guy.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for dependable, quality car at a good price, this car is worth every ounce.
Review: A cute little car, that's comfortable for this long legged blond lady. Nice looking with attractive lines, especially with the spoiler. Original wheels are attractive. Terrific gas mileage, with no break in time. My second cavalier, never disappointed ...

Small car

by   lindsey34378 ,  Jul 16, 2005
Pros: Very strong good runner.
Cons: Very small. Not much room.
Review: This car is a overall small car. I have two young children. I did not think this car was good for little ones. However if you childless then thats a differant story. This car is a strong runner. I had mine for 1 year and I had put 30,000 miles on it. ...

2004 Chevrolet Cavalier still the same car, no surprises

by   trofrnk ,  Sep 29, 2008
Pros: cheap to buy. gas mileage is ok.
Cons: Poor resale, rattly, noisy, plasticky, bare bones cheaply built, gas mileage ONLY OK.
The Bottom Line: Buy this if your saving every dime and don't care about anything but economy.  DON'T PAY TOO MUCH.  Bare bones, bottom of the barrel, but reliable.
Review: I bought this 2004 base model cavalier with 58,000 miles on it for a work car. 58,000 miles. has more creaks groans vibrations and noises than I ever imagined possible. And theres nothing wrong with it, the mechanics say. Just a cheap noisy no frills ...

Inexpensive Performance

by   Savage13 ,  Feb 22, 2006
Pros: Great engine, styling better, quieter
Cons: Still a cavalier. Filler nozzle still on right side, dismal radio.
Review: A lot of things have changed, but a lot has stayed the same. The 2.2 EcoTec is a surprisingly powerful and zippy engine. It loves to rev, though the automatic transmission shifts very softly and tends to wander while driving. Interior changes from the ...

Looking for a good little car? Shop elsewhere.

by   jn_owensboro ,  Mar 6, 2009
Pros: Small size, lots of power equipment, excellent factory sound system
Cons: Poorly built, not as easy on gas as it should be, too small for five
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a good American small car, forget the Cavalier. Look at the Ford Focus.  It's a better value and better built.
Review: I really wanted to like this car.  Honest, I did.  As the former owner of a 1989 Cavalier VL coupe -- and the son-in-law of the owner of a 1997 Z24 -- I figured that the 2004 model would be improved over those models.I figured ...

Just what we've come to expect from GM

by   vwbeje07 ,  Jun 16, 2007
Pros: Engine, transmission, price
Cons: Just about everything else
The Bottom Line: If price is all you care about, I recommend you not even consider this car, you could get an older used vw for the same price.
Review: The 2004 candy red chevy cavalier I am reviewing on is my older brothers, and has had it since brand new. I have drove it quite a number of times, and rode it plenty more. After the redesign of the front and rear fascia, and replacement of the old tired ...
