Another great Cobra radio :-)

by   reviewingman1 ,  Apr 1, 2002
Pros: Backlight, Sleek, Privacy Codes
Cons: Doesn't have a range of 2 miles for me.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to anybody who wants a nice sleek looking radio but doesn't want to pay an outrageous price for it.
Review: Intro...

I bought these radios in the spring of 2001 planning to use them on my trip to Dorney Park over the spring break. They worked wonderfully with only a few flaws.

I Have Been attacked By A Cobra

by   jeffskies ,  Mar 24, 2002
Pros: Cheap, Volume Control, Various Channels
Cons: There are no real cons
The Bottom Line: If you don't have a radio yet go out and purchase this one. It is cheap, and has a large amount of features. Trust me this is one good deal.
Review: I have just recently purchased a cobra radio, for a steal of a deal price. Let me tell you this radio is truly great. There is volume control, so people can adjust what volume they want to send and receive messages in. It has security controls, so...

If my wife loved it , it must be good!!

by   fathom ,  Dec 16, 2001
Pros: Easy to use, clear communication, easy to recharge with optional charger
Cons: One ring tone only. Holder is flimsy and does not hold well.
The Bottom Line: Overall loved the units and especially the recharger. Hated the holder. Would buy it again and pop buy WalMart or equivalent for an after marker holder.
Review: Bought the pair at Costco in Canada prior to a Disney Cruise and a visit to Magic Kingdom. Came with NiCd battery and charger.
Very easy to use. My wife the technophobe mastered it in less than one hour and now wondered how we ever lived without one...

Great radios

by   paiged ,  Jul 25, 2001
Pros: Good placement of controls, key lock
Cons: Too easy to turn on or off
The Bottom Line: In a nutshell, they are small, powerful, have good placement of controls, sub codes, and a key pad lock.
Review: Cobra has another good radio with this model. They come only in a two-pack, of either eggplant or charcoal. They are water resistant, which means that there is a seal around the battery door. Never having used them in a rain storm, I don't know if it...

Lifelines - Cobra MicroTalk FRS-220

by   nwinston ,  May 2, 2001
Pros: Great for stroke patients and others who need communication for aid.
Cons: Instructions are unclear.
The Bottom Line: If you take care of someone who needs help, these radios make a great lifeline. If you're in the yard, or doing noisy chores, these radios get your attention.
Review: Recently, I was at my parents' home. My Mom commis-
erated. She was glad we were there to be inside with Dad
while she got some needed yard work done. After his
stroke, she hesitates to go out in their yard with noisy

Good radio, so-so shape.

by   apowell ,  Sep 20, 2001
Pros: Good quality unit, decent range, easy to use, 42 channels.
Cons: Lousy holster design, rounded corners make it hard to hold.
The Bottom Line: Good quality radio, poor case design which makes it hard to hold.
Review: Cobra generally makes very good electronics; I have one of their CB radios bought in 1976 which still works fine. This radio has good innards but leaves something to be desired in shape. Whether this is a problem for you, you'll have to decide.

Excelent Value for an FRS radio. Great Range, Water resistant

by   doooood ,  Mar 19, 2002
Pros: Price, Durability, Thin, decent features.
Cons: Buttons too easy to bump, battery meter wonky, no scan
The Bottom Line: Excellent for the price, Great for anyone on a budget. Definately has more features than any other radios in that price range.
Review: I purchased this pair of radios from Costco for $128CDN ($80US), so it was a steal. It wasn't so much that $80US for 2 radios was a steal, but the fact that it came with 2 sets of NiMH rechargable batteries and a desktop charger for 2 radios. Those...

Great set of radios for the price

by   jdspring ,  Apr 3, 2002
Pros: Great price, good features, flex antenna
Cons: flimsy holder
The Bottom Line: Feature packed, great performance, and reasonable price. Definetly worth your attention.
Review: Me and my girlfriend purchased these radios in January of 2002. The main purpose of buying these radios was for use on our motorcycles. We found a company that makes headsets to use in motorcycle helmets that support this radio and several others. So...

good local communications

by   geoshill ,  Aug 17, 2001
Pros: Lock function keeps from inadvertently changing settings when picking it up
Cons: Antenna is bothersome in belt holster
The Bottom Line: I recommend the Cobra particularly for the lock function
Review: I have a disabled wife who can call me with the FRS when I'm out doing yard work or what ever. It works fine. I get static on the lower channels. It does well on Ch. 9 and higher around here. I haven't tried the extra channels because the 14 that are...

Bargain Walkie-Talkie or Overpriced 2-Way Radio?

by   rpfromcp ,  Jun 10, 2005
Pros: Sleek design, clear transmissions, button lock feature, weather resistant.
Cons: Limited range, cheesy belt clip holder
Review: We bought these radios to take with us on vacation. They work fine if you are outside and have a decent line of sight. They worked great at the beach, but even there, the range was nowhere near two miles. The best range we ever got was just a little less ...
