Hop on the Collective Soul Train |
|||
|
Pros: Excellent collection of solid rock music
Cons: Collective Soul is still an underrated band
The Bottom Line: Awesome
Review: After the huge success of hard rocker Shine, still high on my all-time favorites list, Collective Soul managed to ride the success train just a little longer with two singles that were completely different than their first big hit. I'm impressed ...

Pros: Very strong album from a band with varied interests
Cons: One rotten song
The Bottom Line: Great blend of styles from a band that still has some artistic sensibilities in spite of its pop leanings.
Review: This album represents Collective Soul's finest hour, and is one of the best albums ever recorded as far as I'm concerned. Collective Soul showed some real potential on their first album, Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid, and followed...

Pros: Fantastic song writing and guitar riffs
Cons: not on this one...
Review: Edited 3-14-00
Collective Soul returned in 1995 with their incredible self-titled album. This was the second album from Collective Soul and is an incredible blend of heavy crunching guitar riffs, meaningful lyrics, and a groove that just won't... |

Pros: Great guitar work, melodic and varied vocals
Cons: One or two weaker songs that could have been omitted, otherwise none.
Review: Collective soul are one of the few bands that managed to avoid the sophomore slump. In fact, their second album (released in 95) is undoubtedly their best work ever. It contains classic song after classic song with smooth rolling beats and great guitar...

Pros: Great flow from song to song, represents a cohesive body of work, diverse album, every song is a keeper
Cons: none!
Review: It's not often that you buy a CD, and you love absolutely every song on it. I can actually say that that is how I feel about this album. When I buy an album, I usually feel like I'm paying for 2 or 3 songs that I really like, and a lot of other, OK...

Pros: great music, great songs
Cons: none!
The Bottom Line: Buy it - one of the best of the 90's
Review: I adore Collective Soul! They are definitely an absolutely AMAZING band! If you havent heard this newest CD, I highly recommend that as well as this one. As for this one its a classic in my collection! I would consider Collective Soul to be an ...

A Long Hard Ride Back to the Top |
|||
|
Pros: great mix of songs that flow really well into and out of each other, a very good overall album
Cons: they haven't duplicated this yet
Review: So just where was Collective Soul supposed to go after the huge hit that was Shine? They had gone double platinum with their first album, they ruled modern rock radio for almost a year, and the single for said song had gone gold.
So... |

Pros: All songs are easy to listen to.
Cons: Roland's voice can get annoying after a while.
The Bottom Line: Introduces the band's style
Review: Mostly everybody who was alive and awake in 1995 own a copy of this album, although for different reasons. Thats ok, there are many to choose from.
Collective Souls self-titled album is, contrarily to most bands, their sophomore album and... |

Pros: They cater to all crowds on this album.
Cons: None at all.
The Bottom Line: Bridges the gap between the grunge of the early '90s and the melodic alt-rock of the decade's second half. A great album.
Review: Owning every one of Collective Soul's CD's pretty much qualifies me as a fan; as you might be able to tell from that statement I like every one of their albums, but this is the one that epitomizes the Rock institution that is Collective Soul.

Pros: great guitar solo's, great drum work, cool lyrics
Cons: one or two songs that could have been left off the album
Review: Collective Soul is, in my opinion, the best modern rock group out there. This sophomore album is full of classic songs. Several of the songs became radio hits, but the other tracks are great as well. The band also boasts one of the best up and coming...
