Cricket -- Just Pick It!

by   Jellyn ,  Jan 10, 2007
Pros: Variety and quality of content.
Cons: Some stories are serialized, which can be good or bad, really.
The Bottom Line: If you know a 9-14 year old who's a reader, or one you'd like to encourage to be a reader, this is the magazine to do it with.
Review: Cricket is a short story magazine for kids 9-14, though obviously you can go up and down a little on that age range. The same publishing company publishes a large number of fiction and nonfiction magazines for different age ranges. If your ...

You can't beat Cricket with a stick!

by   jilpie ,  Oct 20, 2002
Pros: Cute, smart, sweet... By far the best magazine for your smart kid
Cons: None at all.
The Bottom Line: Love it love it love it! If reading is your child's thing (or even if it isn't,) give Cricket a try, you'll be glad you did!
Review: Cricket is a great magazine for a number of reasons. I've been getting it since May 98 (Which is a long time, considering how long I've been alive ;D) and I've kept every issue. If your kid enjoys reading, they'll love Cricket. If your kid doesn't enjoy...

Pros: quality literature
Cons: pricey
Review: I am always on the lookout for publications for my 9 year old daughter. She is a voracious reader (has been ever since she learned) and I thought a literary magazine might be a fun way to expand what she reads without it seeming too much like a...

by   skborger ,  Jan 22, 2000
Pros: Interesting stories
Cons: Sometimes they're long.
Review: My sister just started receiving this magazine this year. It is one in a series of reading magazines for kids. Yes, technically this magazine is hers, but now I'm into it also! Cricket includes short stories and poems for ages 9-14. Most people ignore...
