High performance low price pda for the masses

by   suemccartin ,  Sep 8, 2003
Pros: CF and SD slot, 64 Ram/48 Rom, interchangeable main battery
Cons: Bulkier/heavier than other pdas, Dell accessories expensive, no usb host capabilities.
The Bottom Line: Great machine for the masses, can do everything the more expensive models can do with the right software and accessories. Good bang for the buck.
Review: First of all let me note that epinions has their graphic reversed for the basic and advanced axim models. The basic axim doesn't come with a cradle unless it's ordered separately. Basic vs. Advanced: The axim basic has a slower cpu, less memory main ...

Power In Your Pocket

by   Eutek ,  Nov 12, 2003
Pros: Price, expandability, design
Cons: Weak IR beam, D-pad is not precise
The Bottom Line: The Axim is value for the money. It has expandability, power, good looks and a decent design.
Review: This is not going to be an in-depth, technical review of the Dell Axim X5, but rather my impressions as a user of this interesting device. I migrated to the Axim by way of a Palm IIIxe and then a Compaq Ipaq. I found the Palm to be extremely useful, b ...

by   gookster ,  Jan 13, 2003
Pros: High performance at a fraction of the competition's price. Simply put: A beautiful PDA.
Cons: Dell exclusive. Lack of retailers. No 3rd party accessories as of yet.
The Bottom Line: It's cheap, replaced my older PDA and MP3 player at the same time, beautiful display, sexy silver cradle, and overall great performance.
Review: The following review will assume the reader is somewhat familiar with the technical specifications of the product, thus eliminating needless details.

by   kindred3 ,  Jan 22, 2003
Pros: Great Service, excellent value, CF and SD slots, great sound, the dell switcher bar.
Cons: None yet!
The Bottom Line: Several people at work have bought the Axim based on a 5-minute demo of what the Axim can do. So you decide.
Review: I cannot say enough about my Dell. I've had it for 3 weeks now and have found nothing wrong with it. From the start I was pleased, Dell told me that it would be 10 days for delivery so you can imagine my surprise when it showed up in 4 days. I guess the...

UPDATED REVIEW: get one - it's a good deal

by   zma453 ,  Nov 27, 2002
Pros: AMAZING VALUE, PocketPC, Good expandibility, very cool cradle
Cons: graffiti weak, off-center directional button, too big to fit in a pocket
The Bottom Line: EXCELLENT value almost EXCELLENT product EXCELLENT versatility
Review: The Dell Axim replaces my Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 (see review), and for good reason. Dell thought of everything before putting the Axim on the market. First, Dell decided to price it 1/2 the cost of comparable Compaq iPaqs. What this means is that Dell...

by   mugglestuff ,  Dec 5, 2002
Pros: Price versus features
Cons: Size and weight if you want the thinnest and lightest
The Bottom Line: If price is an issue, BUY IT! The best you can buy in this price range. Now if I can get my $50 rebate from Dell ;)......
Review: I have been shopping for a while for a pocket PC to replace my Jornada 520 which died after a month and a half that I found in a pawn shop for $150. I have a handspring visor platinum with several of the handspring modules and wanted to try the pocket PC...

Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC PDA Handheld

by   sandoon ,  Apr 30, 2003
Pros: Performance for Years to Come SD AND CF Slots MS Word/Excel Capability Touch Screen
Cons: PPC 2002 OS No power button lock (like cell phone) Minor performance glitches
The Bottom Line: For School/Business, it can't be beat. Gaming won't match GameBoyAdvance. Next OS will get more out of your unit, perhaps shipped with upcoming X3/X7 units.
Review: So you people shopping for a handheld, you have 2 choices - Palm, or PPC. Palm is undoubtedly more streamlined, easier to use, and simpler for the beginner. However, those looking for advanced performance, storage, or just the most complete PDA around...
