Leslie Neilson in his Best Role Yet!

by   MoonBeam1965 ,  Aug 11, 2000
Pros: Non stop comedy
Cons: highly addictive!
Review: I have long been a fan of Leslie Neilson's films, mostly of course
spoofs that we have grown to love over the years.
Dracula has always had a magnetic personality over the years, gaining
fans of all ages. Leslie Neilson shows us the...

Parody At Its Best

by   jaxp ,  Jan 12, 2000
Pros: Great spoof, love the comedy.
Cons: Brooks's bad accent. Not much else.
Review: The movie didn't do too well in theaters. I can't imagine *why*, though; "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" (1996) is a perfect up-yours to Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992). While taking great liberties with the plot and the...

Fangs For The Laughter

by   selden ,  Mar 8, 2001
Pros: One of Mel Brooks' best movies
Cons: A bit gruesome for the kids
The Bottom Line: Slapstick comedy is a Mel Brooks specialty, and in this film he transforms horror into humor. Plenty of laughs to be had here.
Review: It sounds good doesn't it? Team up Leslie Nielsen from The Naked Gun series with comic supremo Mel Brooks in a comedy farce about Dracula. Then add the familiar faces of Harvey Korman, Peter MacNicol, and Amy Yasbeck to the support cast and you...

the king of spoofs does it again

by   tommy_lop ,  Aug 7, 2000
Pros: outragisley funny, comes from mel brooks so it has to be a good spoof
Cons: has a crude joke in it. Brooks annoying accent isen't funny
Review: I was bored the other day and decided to go rent a movie. I did not know what to pick up and this movie just caught my eye. At first I did not know it was made by Mel Brooks until I read the opening credits. After doing that it was made by one of the...

Dracula: Something's Missing

by   lorenmgreen ,  May 9, 2001
Pros: some unique and clever humor
Cons: requires patience--not a positive for a slapstick comedy
The Bottom Line: Far from Brooks' best work, Dracula is mildly funny but too slow paced. I'm struggling to recommend this compared with other Brooks films.
Review: It's a real shame, being the huge Mel Brooks fan that I am, but I really find myself making an effort to like this movie, to watch it again and again just trying to defend it.

Dracula: Dead and Loving It stars Leslie Nielson, of Naked Gun,...

Mel Brooks aims his pun-gun at the Dracula legend--and particularly at Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 film BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA--in this undead spoof. I...
