"Hearst's Intellectually Robust Esquire Magazine..." 275 Pageviews

by   sfarmer76 ,  Sep 18, 2006
Pros: If you've lived on Eglin AFB, this is your magazine!
Cons: Why confine Chiarella to humor, and Junod to news?
The Bottom Line: Excellent fiction and non-fiction pieces.
Review: Esquire is one of those magazines that I followed while in college but that I stopped reading after I left campus. The periodical had superior editors and writers during the late eighties -- that ...

Excellent writing, great photography

by   protoguy ,  Apr 26, 2000
Pros: The entire issue
Cons: nothing
Review: I have had a subscription to Esquire for almost two years now. I read it from cover to cover. The articles are compelling and smart. There is no candy coating on the interviews. If the interviewee is being a sh**, they write it. The photos accompanying...

Great Gossip

by   kendraspice ,  Dec 22, 1999
Pros: Funny and gossip packed
Cons: need to include jokes about politicians more
Review: This is a great gossip magazine, it doesn't leave out any celebrity and has the funniest ways of putting things. It cracks jokes at every one about every thing. Plus it sets no limits and skirts the line of being contrevertial. It is for those days...

Cons: Coverage not always in- depth, because so many topics are covered
The Bottom Line: Esquire is inexpensive and provides good entertainment for men. Many women will enjoy it, too, especially the fashion articles and male models.

The Intellectual Man’s Magazine of Choice?

by   vemartin ,  Jun 17, 2007
Pros: Well-written; limited advertisements; cutting edge art design; in touch.
Cons: Shallow at points.
The Bottom Line: When all is said and done I have to admit that I enjoy reading Esquire Magazine; who knows the magazine just might make me a better man!
Review: The world of men’s magazines is festooned with glossy covers adorned with half dressed woman and mostly vapid content geared toward the more Neanderthal and or juvenile among us. In a world filled with Maxim and Stuff magazines, ...

Despite Graying Temples, Esquire Delivers Current Material

by   Joubert ,  May 13, 2007
Pros: Low subscription price and quality content...
Cons: ...although not quite as brilliant (especially with fiction) as it once was.
The Bottom Line: Worth it once you graduate from the laddie magazines and need to know what the woman in the elevator thinks of your shoes.
Review: Like an aging baseball player who has lost a step legging out an infield grounder, Esquire simultaneously dropped its standards a bit, but made the magazine accessible to more readers. The periodical once regarded as a literary GQ did not ...
