Amazing Headphones....umm...Earphones

by   bdb55 ,  May 18, 2002
Pros: Sound, Size, Isolation
Cons: Microphonic Cord, High Price
The Bottom Line: These are the best headphones I have ever heard. They provide amazing sound and isolation and are very small. The only drawback is the price.
Review: The Purchase

I had been looking for some new headphones to replace my Sony MDR-D22s. The Sonys sounded fine, but they were too big for me to carry around with my mp3 CD player. The Sonys were also semi-open, meaning that some sound...

Ideal Earphones

by   gozumm ,  Sep 14, 2005
Pros: Superb sonics, small package, complete kit, lightweight, better fit among Etymotic products
Cons: Price, getting used to its in ear location, cleaning, learning curve to insert properly
The Bottom Line: The best earphones I've ever used. Sonic heaven.
Review: I recently bought an ER6i as my introduction to the Etymotic's line. I was utterly amazed by the improved listening experience it gave. h ttp://www.epinions.com/content _186266979972 Recently, my travel Diva ...

B is for bright!

by   Todd ,  Nov 16, 2000
Pros: Great with binaural recordings
Cons: very limited use, bright with stereo recordings
Review: The Etymotic ER4B is the most specialized of Etymotics 3 ear phones. Designed to work with binaural recordings, their equalization circuit compensates for the rolled off high frequencies lost due to the binaural process. These recordings use a dummy head...

Perfection, or the next best thing to it.

by   outer_peace ,  Dec 16, 2004
Pros: Extremely accurate and musical Very portable Comfortable Not expensive looking
Cons: Expensive, but a bargain compared to any other headphone of similar sound quality
The Bottom Line: Absolutely buy them if you are obsessed with accurate sound and don't mind the feeling of plugs deep in your ears.
Review: Over the years I've owned around 70 different pairs of headphones, from cheap to rather high-end, and I used to think I just had a compulsion with buying phones that would go on forever. Each set had it's own unique sound and I used different sets ...

Cry Me a River! (Nine Months on)

by   PoorRhino ,  Feb 19, 2001
Pros: Sound like you oughta hear it
Cons: Pricey, needs more than passive maintenance
The Bottom Line: Because of the quality of the listening experience, I can handle the maintenance requirements; these ER-4Ps are my hands-down choice: worth the money, worth the effort.
Review: Etymotic ER-4P Earphones

I'm writing this review at 24000 feet, plugged into my laptop and listening to B.B. King and Diane Schuur's "Heart to Heart" CD--hearing only the music and, faintly, the white noise of the airplane's flight. I cannot...

Portable use only

by   Todd ,  Jan 12, 2000
Pros: Can be used with portable players
Cons: Not quite as accurate as the ER4S
Review: The Etymotic ER4P is the newest addition to the fine line of earphones from Etymotic. They are designed to be more efficient than the ER4S so that portable players can drive them to decent listening levels. Portable players have notoriously weak outputs...

Ah, the transparency!

by   wayfarer88 ,  Feb 18, 2001
Pros: Sound quality, portability, isolation
Cons: Price, but you get what you pay for here.
The Bottom Line: The Etymotic ER4P's get 5 stars all the way. Do yourself and your favorite music artists a favor and go pick these up. $269 at Headroom.
Review: I purchased my Etymotic ER4P's a week ago. Since then, I have been going through my CD and MD collection non-stop, rediscovering many new tones and intricacies of the music that I had been missing. The quality of the sound coming from these little...

All you hear is the music!! Not cheap but worth it!

by   josd ,  Jan 23, 2002
Pros: The sound... for home, travel and especially airplane use.
Cons: Either you can take having something in your ear or you can't.
The Bottom Line: If you have $300 to spend on headhones, or you kill some pairs a year in travel, this the T-H-E way to go.
Review: First, I would never have found this product if not for Epinions! I was looking to upgrade my early version of the Sony noise-cancelling headphones (model 5)and wanted to get an opinion on the Bose unit. That led me to a review of these.

I...

surprisingly great sound in a tiny package

by   betatester100 ,  Oct 13, 2000
Pros: great sound in a tiny package perfect for travel
Cons: in canal design is uncomfortable for some
Review: These "in-canal earphones" arrived in a nicely packaged plastic storage box. Anybody who buys these will immediately see that Etymotic intended on delivering a quality product.... and that they did!

The sound is first rate, rivaling...

Exceptional earphones. I love them but try them yourself.

by   jon_b ,  Jul 20, 2005
Pros: Sound quality, comfort, noise cancelling.
Cons: Price...but you soon realise they are worth it! Microphonic cable.
The Bottom Line: Try them...and then buy them
Review: This is a product that you have to try for yourself, rather than listen to other people's opinions. Some people will find them uncomfortable or won't have the courage to insert them deeply enough into the ear to get a really good sound. I tried them and ...
