Experiencing music for the first time.

by   ebpsi2k ,  Mar 21, 2006
Pros: Accuracy, clarity, response. Sound isolation. Look good.
Cons: Difficult to insert without practice. Pouch is a joke. The cord is really long.
The Bottom Line: Recommended to those who can tolerate public embrassment by tugging your ears in a quest to acheive audio bliss.
Review: I have had the Etymotic ER-6's for about 6 months now. I purchased it after I got my new iPod with video knowing that the Apple supplied earphones weren't the best. I'm not a true audiophile, but I do know the difference between accuracy and clarity in ...

Ride a Motorcycle? These are probably the BEST 'phone option around.

by   pfalcioni ,  Jun 29, 2006
Pros: Comfortable fit, excellent noise reduction, clear sound even at low volume.
Cons: Cost (although cheap for what you get), can be fragile if not handled properly.
The Bottom Line: Simply the best option for noise reduction AND great sound quality in their price range.
Review: We live in a very remote area, and spend many hours on streetbikes - both locally and on long-distance tours. Even with the best helmet money can buy, wind noise is still somewhat of an issue (unless you really WANT to grow up to be that old guy in ...

The Strange and Solipsistic World of ER-6 Earphones

by   ahathaway ,  May 28, 2002
Pros: Compact, remarkable sound, allows listening at lower volumes
Cons: Inconvenient to insert, modestly comfortable, may raise solipsistic questions
The Bottom Line: If music transports you, you want to save your hearing, and you enjoy floating dreamily and ghost-like around people, then these are the earphones for you.
Review: When $129 looks like a "value":
Many people have written about the remarkable sound these earphones produce, much like their pricier ER-4S sibling. Never having heard the higher-end models, I can't directly compare them, but the...

Amazing!

by   aristillus ,  May 17, 2002
Pros: Tiny size, BIG sound, isolation.
Cons: Not quite the richness of the ER4's; isolation.
The Bottom Line: Nearly as great as the ER4, more portable and less than half the cost!
Review: Even after reading pages and pages of favorable reviews on Etymotic earphones, I was still completely blown away by how good they sound! I ordered the ER6, as well as the ER4P, from HeadRoom...knowing they are only too happy to let you try things out....

Directly Piped Music!

by   ashmason ,  Nov 14, 2003
Pros: Great packaging, comfortable, excellent isolation. You can ignore coworkers! :)
Cons: Missed phone calls, can't tell when my boss is coming anymore.
The Bottom Line: Plug in, turn on and get lost in music, wait wasn't that a song?
Review: Intro A very good friend of mine bought me an I-Pod, so I embraced the technology and loaded my entire CD selection to it. Now the problem is the earphones that came with the i-pod are just your regular flavor. Being I always burn the candle at ...

Etymotic ER-6 -- Silence might be more than golden

by   brickout ,  Aug 30, 2005
Pros: Excellent noise isolation, good sound quality, light, tiny, and affordable
Cons: Mildly annoying noise when cord is moved, lackluster accessory package
The Bottom Line: I would recommend these to anyone looking for an affordable solution to being bothered by excess noise in ANY environment who doesn't mind using canalphones. Everything about the ER-6's shines.
Review: I recently had the pleasure of replacing a lost pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 2's with these little beasties. I haven't looked back since, minus a few small details. I'll review these canalphones by the following criteria: included accessories, first ...

Great Headphones

by   bugaco ,  May 11, 2002
Pros: Sound, Noise isolation, Portability
Cons: require a lot of power to drive, none if you like ear-plugs
The Bottom Line: Great buy. ER6 has best sound short on ER4p, but ER6 is more comfortable. Better than AKG 501 & Sonys.
Review: Etymotic were my second [serious] headphones.

First were Sony's xx70xx.

For comparation, check my update for Sony headphones.

After plugging Etymotic for a first time - they were - comfortable. They sounded very different...

they are awesome!

by   shishdim ,  Mar 9, 2006
Pros: sit in my ears very well, keep the wind noise out
Cons: the wires seem to be thin and too long, pricey!
The Bottom Line: Awesome product! I wish I got it a few years ago and did not spend money on that cheap stuff.
Review: This earphones just revived my MP3 player. I took me a while to decide to buy them because in fact I paid $80 for my Sumsung MP3 player, and I did not feel like spending $90 for earphones, especially because conventional earphones are 1/6 of that money. ...

Excellent...I never listen to other headphones anymore

by   tjsbocaj ,  Nov 25, 2005
Pros: Awesome-to-the-max sound quality, portable, no batteries, excellent sound isolation, good for travel
Cons: Ear wax, maintenence, somewhat expensive, dangerous (read warnings carefully), not healthy for conversation
The Bottom Line: I reccomend these for people who realize that their bundled headphones suck, and want to hear music and only music, not other people or things in the background.
Review: I bought a pair of Etymotic ER-6 isolators to go with my newly purchased Zen Micro. These little things are simply amazing and the sound quality is excellent. When I was looking into headphones, the first of my criteria for selection was noise ...

Different to what I expected

by   mark_foley ,  Aug 27, 2003
Pros: Great sound, REALLY isolate you
Cons: Cost. But worth it.
The Bottom Line: They are expensive but worth it.
Review: Ok, I'd read the reviews and heard people rave about frequency response, this type of instrument, et ...
