Gotta love the originals!

by   hhgbh ,  May 14, 2005
Pros: Fun gameplay. Intriguing stories. High replay value.
Cons: Don't expect huge 3D graphics or cutscenes.
The Bottom Line: A great flashback to the FF games of old and, who knows? You may enjoy these more than the newer games!
Review: As a huge RPG fan, I had to see the origins of what is arguably the most popular series in the genre: Final Fantasy. This pack contains FF5 and FF6, the last games of the series to be made before it went 3-D. But don't let their simple looks ...

Classic RPGs resurface on the PSX

by   Mike_Bracken , top reviewer in Games at Epinions.com ,  Jan 17, 2000
Pros: Great gameplay, long games, and good music
Cons: Newer gamers might be put off by the old 16 bit graphics
Review: Think you're a die-hard Final Fantasy fan just because you've beaten Final Fantasy 7 and 8? Guess again, my friends, because there were no less than 6 installments of this seminal RPG series before the two PSX games were ever even dreamed of. And now,...

Final Fantasy is the best

by   akujin ,  Mar 4, 2000
Pros: Squaresoft's Masterpiece Games
Cons: Battles lag slightly
Review: Squaresoft is my favorite game making company. It was Squaresoft's Final Fantasy Series that got me into RPGs (Role-playing Games). The first one I played was Final Fantasy IV (or II in the USA). My friend had lent it to me and I was hooked. I was...

FINAL FANTASY ANTHOLOGY: TWO CLASSIC, GREAT GAMES re-released in one great package!

by   strife_raven ,  Oct 29, 2001
Pros: Great storylines, awesome music, evokes ALOT of emotions.
Cons: Has the original SNES graphics and sounds (if you think that is a CON).
The Bottom Line: Final Fantasy Anthology for the PSX has TWO GREAT, EMOTIONAL, CLASSIC games that are quite moving and intriguing. Added FMVs to the two classic RPGs make this an excellent purchase!

Where it all started

by   Dastar ,  Oct 16, 2000
Pros: Comes with Final Fantasy 3....enough said
Cons: slow down can be annoying
Review: Growing up, I have a vivid memory of playing all the Final Fantasy games that were released in the United States (and the ones that weren't thanks to emulation). Remember this fact however, when one of us FF fanatics tell you that FF3 was the best (FF3...

Blast from the past

by   4leggedchicken ,  Jul 4, 2000
Pros: Two great games in one, over 60 hours of game play combined, free musical disk
Cons: out dated graphics, some bland characterizations (VI)
Review: Since Final Fantasy Anthology is a compilation of two games, to make things easier I have decided to review them individually to better get an understanding of the whole package.

Final Fantasy V
The title that many fans of...

Review on just Final Fantasy 6

by   mrchupon ,  Jun 14, 2000
Pros: Everything. Story, visuals, soundtrack, battle system.
Cons: Overshadowed by the not-as-good FFVII, and the nowhere-near-as-good (subpar) FFVIII
Review: In case you're curious, I haven't played Anthology. I'm aware of some load times and glitches, but because there is no place to simply review Final Fantasy 6 (the greatest game of all time in my heart), I'll stick it here.

~~NOTE: I submitted...

Square could not have made any better games

by   master_flog ,  Mar 2, 2001
Pros: The two best Final Fantasys' in one convinent package.
Cons: Because it is run on the playstation commands are exicute slower.
The Bottom Line: The best in old school Final Fantasy. The best for its time and the best for all time. Worship the game!!
Review: First off i would like to mention that Final Fanatsy 6 is the BEST final fantasy ever, in the series. Final Fantasy 5 is a close second. Both of these game are what Final Fantasy is. They both have moogles & chocobos & the reoccuring monsters (toneberry...

This is a must have game

by   chickmunk ,  Oct 21, 2000
Pros: Good gameplay
Cons: early 90's graphics
Review: This is a definite must have game. I owned Final Fantasy 3 for Super Nintendo but sold it because I got tired of it. A month later I wanted it back but nobody had it anymore. So when I heard that they were releasing Final Fantasy 5&6 for the...

Old-school Final Fantasy, as Good as Gold

by   jackash83 ,  Nov 21, 2000
Pros: Really cool to have
Cons: wait a minute...They forgot to put in FF4!!!!!!
The Bottom Line: Buy it, if you haven't played it on SNES, then you gotta play it now.
Review: Only a few GOOD things have ever been able to indure the title of 'Anthology' such as The Beatles (and hopefully MetallicA very soon)and now Squaresoft's very well known, very energetic, absolutely remarkable series, FINAL FANTASY.

At first I...
