.......the frigidaireGLTF1040A is a great washer.......can't wait to tell you about it.
With a house full of kids and pets, the one thing I have learned over the years is that a washer is a must. Usually a cheap washer is even better and less expensive on your budget than no washer at all.

For example when I only had 5 small children in the house and a husband that worked on cars almost everyday I was washing 20 loads of clothes a week, and that was only 50¢ a load to wash, and 25¢ a half hour to dry so it usually cost only $20.00 a week to wash all the clothes. Maybe I am giving my age away a bit, how much does it cost to wash now? In two months time I was spending enough money washing clothes at the laundry as it would take to buy a good cheap washer.
.......the frigidaire GLTF front loader washes a lot, even quilts........

Ok, everyone doesn't have room, and everyone doesn't' wash that much,or you don't live in a place where you can have your own washer, maybe you are concerned about water usage, or water drainage on your septic system, the environment, or how much it may raise your electric bill.

.......the frigidaire GLTF front loader is quiet and energy efficient, Energy Star rated.......

However. for most of us there is a washer out there JUST THE ONE YOU WANT. Make your self a list, some simple questions:
~How much am I spending at the Laundry?
~Do I need a dryer also?
~What will I be washing most?
~How often will I be washing?
~How big are my loads?
~Where will it drain to?
~Where will I put it?
~Do I really need speciality cycles?
~How important are looks?
~How noisy is it?
~Is it energy efficient?
~Energy Star Rated?
~How much water does it use?
~Can I afford a service contract?
~How good is the warranty?
~How easy is it to operate?
~How easy is it to clean?
~How often does it eat socks or small items?
~How easy is it to get caught items out?
~Do I want to clean a lent filter?
~How safe is it around small children?

The Frigidaire GLTF1040A Front Load Washer... Is a wonderful machine. Very quiet, although it can be somewhat noisy on the spin cycle if the legs are not balanced. It is a large capacity washer, you can easily fit two average loads of clothes in it and they still have room to wash and come out clean. It is very easy to operate, my 6 year old is able to put in the clothes, put in the soap powder, close the door and start it up without any problem. He also knows how to listen for the stop buzzer and then open the door and take the clothes out. Therefore it is also kid safe. When it is in operation, the door locks, there is a little lock light on the front, the machine will not start and the door will not open if this is on. That way you don't have to worry about anyone opening it and letting water out all over, or worst crawling in it to play.

The Cycles

~Water can be set at HOT/COLD (hot being the wash, cold being the rinse)
WARM/COLD, COLD/COLD, WARM/WARM.
~There is an EXTRA RINSE CYCLE that can be switched to YES for regular clothes and NO for permanent press.
~Final Spin Cycle can be set to fast or normal, on fast the clothes almost come out the washer dry.
~The fourth knob controls the type of wash you are doing

DELICATE-for hand washables having a shorter wash time.
Pre-Wash if you choose REGULAR-for heavy or light washes and you can adjust the length of time for the wash.
PERM PRESS-which you can also adjust the length of time it washes. This knob you push in,turn clockwise to set, and pull it out to start the wash.
~There is also an automatic detergent, fabric softener, bleach dispenser drawer. The drawer slides out easy, and is divided into 3 slots you are SUPPOSE only put each item in the right slot. They are marked but NOT IN BRIGHT COLORS I have slipped up occasionally, and put the bleach in the fabric softener slot, but I have not noticed any problem. Another safety feature. THE WASHER WILL STOP OR NOT START IF THIS DRAWER IS OPEN. You can also put your detergent, bleach or fabric softener right inside.

Although it does not actually have a soak cycle, you can simply stop it in the wash cycle by pushing the knob in,and let clothes soak, then start it back up where you stopped at by pulling the knob out.

It has a see through window, and it is actually fun to watch the clothes tumbling over as they wash. You can tell just how soapy they are. Socks and small objects, paper, screws can slip under the rubber gasket that prevents water from coming out the door, so you should stick your hand down along it a check. Screws can put a hole in it, and sock can be missing, this is very easy to check every time you do a wash, only takes a moment.

To give you and idea of it's washing capabilities I have washed my king size comforters, heavy blankets and 4 or 5 sheet sets at a time depending if they are twin, or king. I wash the kids pillows, and stuffed animals, snow suits and jackets, and everything comes out squeaky clean.

THE FRIGIDAIRE GLTF1040A WILL MAKE YOU LOOK FORWARD TO DOING THE WASH.

Just remember this a front loader, and you pretty much have to put all the things you want to wash in at the beginning because you can't open the door mid cycle to add a forgotten item. You can do this immediately after you have started it, by turning it off, but before before the water has really had a chance to fill otherwise it will lock.

Set UP
I did it myself, it came with everything it needed, and I already had a place for a washer with hot and cold water spout for washers and a drain. It was pretty simple, about 20 minutes including getting everything out of the box.

If you don't know how the manual will tell you, but you really just screw on the hoses, one on the hot side which is color coded red and then to your hot water outlet. The other hose on the cold, make sure they are tight on the back of the washer, and tight on your outlet so they won't leak. If you have never put on a hose, they come with little rubber washers to put inside the hoses on both ends to prevent leaks. The drain hose just clamps on, and goes into a drain which should be high enough so that the water can get out of the washer and drain. mine is about 3ft tall from the floor up and it works just fine.

If it is too low water may come out on your floor, or not drain properly.

Of course you can have the service person set it up for you.

I did get a good deal on this washer, as I was buying more than one appliance at the time, but with a little TLC this washer will work hard and them some.

As with all major appliances I also have this one on a service contract, In this price range even with well know brands I feel the warranty is just not sufficient although I have not had any problem with this washer.
