Primus & Frizzle Fry - A Great Way To Pluck Up Your Day

by   MsBayLady ,  Sep 13, 2000
Pros: Unique sound, very cool offbeats, incredible bass
Cons: none in 10 years
Review: When first invited to become a participant in the Favorite Album Write-Off being put together by awoolcott I was very excited. I live in a house that is full of musicians and although my own musical ability is on the level of plucking out...

Primus defies the laws of tradition on their 1st studio album.

by   alan-smithee ,  Jun 21, 2002
Pros: Funny lyrics, stupendous bass, whacked out guitar and incredible drum work. Tight arrangements.
Cons: A few tracks sound a little similar at first. Feels a little rushed in places.
The Bottom Line: While it lacks some of the variety and the polish of their next release Sailing the Seas of Cheese, this is still a great album in its own right.
Review: The bay area power trio Primus has traveled a different route then most bands. Their debut release was actually a live album in the form of 1990's Suck on This. While it might seem a bit unusual to release a live album as your debut, it made...

Primus-Frizzle Fry

by   toolfan828 ,  Jun 27, 2004
Pros: Funny,incredible musicianship,very consistent.
Cons: Some filler but they are only about 30 seconds so it doesn't matter.
The Bottom Line: This is a great CD and is recommended to fans of Primus, rock and metal.
Review: Primus is: Les-vocals/bass Herb-drums Ler-guitar This is my first Primus album and certainly won't be my last.I would buy this album just for Les' bass playing.Out of all the bassists I've heard he is the best. The ...

Frizzle Fry

by   neverwakeup16 ,  Mar 17, 2003
Pros: Consistantly strong throughout the whole album.
Cons: Absolutely none!
The Bottom Line: Frizzle Fry is truly what Primus is all about. Having fun, playing some funky music, and loving every second of it. Pick it up ASAP.
Review: If you haven't heard of Primus, you must either be dead, in jail, or busy listening to the crap on the radio today. If you really want funky, progressive rock then you should check out Primus. These three guys can deliver it like nobody else.

Primus's best work!

by   bastardo ,  Dec 13, 1999
Pros: best Primus sound
Cons: primus is not accessible to most listeners
Review: This is by far the best cd from Primus. It showcases Les Claypool's excellent bass playing on every track, and almost every track I love...actually...the only ones I don't like are the little segueway tracks. Primus has a sound like no other band, and...

1990 | True Rock Innovation

by   jbliv ,  Mar 15, 2000
Pros: Talent, songs, humor
Cons: A couple of weak tracks
Review: Primus's second release and first studio album, Frizzle Fry, starts out with a fantastic joke: the opening eleven seconds are the beginning of Rush's YYZ from the album Moving Pictures, a recreation of Neil Peart's morse-code cymbal intro that abruptly...
