Possibly the best SLR-like on the market today.

by   carnivalhearts ,  Jun 15, 2007
Pros: Great image quality (300 dpi), full manual control, great lens, actually looks like a camera
Cons: Unintuitive menu layout, finicky autofocus, finicky exposure, noise noticeable at ISO 400+
The Bottom Line: Fujifilm has hit the sweet spot between a basic point & shoot and dSLR. Definitely buy.
Review: The s9100 is for anybody who wants a digital SLR but either can't afford one or, like me, can't do without the convenience of full-on digital, such as LCD previewing and video capabilities. I give it five stars because, though the image quality is not ...

High quality for a good price

by   blowfish1 ,  Jul 13, 2007
Pros: RAW a plus, feels good in your hand, great lens, USB 2.0, and more...
Cons: a little noisy at high ISO speeds(800, 1600), very little else
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this camera for its picture quality, versatility, and easy handling. It has exceeded my expectations, and I'm sure it will exceed most others.
Review: I had this camera for only a day and I like it already. Great picture quality and easy to use. It replaces a Fuji 4700 which also had very good picture quality for a 4 mp digital camera and better than my Canon A430 of equal mp. (I also shoot film ...

Fantastic pictures, nice video too

by   bradleyb32 ,  Jun 11, 2007
Pros: Big images. Manual focus ring. Manual zoom. Good video. Can shoot raw. Easy manual controls.
Cons: No interchangeable lenses. Learning curve for low-light shooting.
The Bottom Line: This is the camera that let me retire my film SLR and my wife's digital sureshot.
Review: Bought a refurbished model of this camera back in February, replacing a cheaper Olympus digital with fewer manual options. My wife and I have been tremendously pleased with it. She keeps the camera on auto, and she's had good luck even in low light with ...

Simply the BEST ! Not only pricewise but QUALITY

by   dontaylorjr ,  Nov 25, 2008
Pros: Long battery life-use Duracell rechargables NEVER the bunny's. PRICE-QUALITY-OPTIONS-room to learn & GROW.
Cons: Manual written in small fonts! People who are too lazy to read the manual.
The Bottom Line: Great quality & price.Tech support is very GOOD. Pro looking w/ Pro results. Get the Sunpak flash, a reader & flashcard. You're gonna LOVE this camera, Don Taylor says so
Review: I've had my S9100 since 2 days b-4 Christmas '06. For those negative reviewers that's 1 yr. 9,000 .jpgs & .RAWs later. After such satisfaction w/ my Fuji FinePix E-550 & S5100 I easily upgraded to the S9100 since they all use the SAME XD media cards. ...

Pros: lots of features
Cons: none so far

A Super Camera!

by   kengeiger ,  Apr 7, 2007
Pros: Great pictures, easy to use and carry.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Review: I have had absolutely NO bad experiences using this camera. I bought it as a "crossover" camera for times when I'd really love to have my DSLR with me and I just don't want to be bothered lugging all the "stuff" around. For traveling, it is sealed so you ...

Great Camera!!

by   sampsonone ,  Jun 10, 2007
Pros: Fantastic photographs, including low-light indoors photography. Equal to 35mm Film cameras!
Cons: No program-memory settings in the photography modes.
Review: This camera is definitely a "must have" if your desire is to bridge the gap between a "point and shooter" and a DSLR. This camera gives you the best of both worlds, provided you don't need a camera capable of a zoom range above 300mm (35mm equivalent)or ...

Poor Manual, Not User Friendly

by   nosdod7 ,  Nov 18, 2007
Pros: Great design and feel.Menu needs to be clearer.
Cons: Would be a greater investment if we knew how to work everything easily.
Review: Poorly written manual, not written as everyday understandable English. Something is lost in translation from Japanese to English, needs to be rewritten, more clarification in all the menus, and how to find things. This appears to be written by someone who ...

Next best to having a DSLR

by   donkk ,  Jun 11, 2007
Pros: beautiful photographs easy to use, and understand, Large zoom lens, and good wide angle.
Cons: People giving this camera a review without truly reading the manual.
Review: I just bought the Fuji S9000, after reading the manual a few times, I tried a few shots, what a GREAT camera!!! All I can say is, if anyone rates this poorly they didnt read the manual! Also this camera gets compared to DSLR's, Its not quit a true ...

Best all-around sub-SLR

by   felixu ,  Oct 7, 2007
Pros: Manual barrel rings for zoom and focus. Handling - the overall feel.
Cons: Although shutter lag is very slight, it needs to be anticipated for action shots.
Review: Loaded with features of an SLR, but without the cost or need of changing lenses. Great for both point-and-shoot and full manual controlled shots. Feels nice in the hand with good balance and the controls are fairly well positioned. I've had this ...
