Pros: Price, Compact size, lightweight, long battery life
Cons: Limited tracking capability, lack of mapping features
The Bottom Line: Etrex is an excellent companion to any hiker looking for a lightweight reliable tool to provide geographical information.
Review: Ive owned the Garmin Etrex for nearly a year and I have used it on three separate continents: North America, Europe and Asia. For its low price I found out that it is one of the best GPS products available. I was amazed at how functional it is for its...

Pros: Small & light, good reception (especially in car) & accuracy, nice backlight
Cons: Power-hungry, no compass, no base map
The Bottom Line: Built to last! Get this unit if you are a gadget aficionado, do any sort of outdoor activities, or drive a car, boat, or aircraft. Very cool!
Review: Basics: The title quotes the first words I uttered as I took this gadget out of the box and into the yard. I felt just like Spock with his tricorder, being able to know where I was going and where I've been. The eTrex is well worth its $100 for the ...

Garmin eTrex. Not for the Professional Tracker, but sufficient for the Concrete Jungle
by

|
Pros: Low Price, great features, easy to handle, intuitive, effective
Cons: not a professional model, lacks altitude mapping
The Bottom Line: For a basic GPS unit, this eTrex will serve you well. If you're going packing to Alaska to unknown territory, then invest in a more expensive unit.
Review: Garmin came out with a great sales nitch with this piece of technology. I liken it to the Celeron by Intel. They cut out a few of the 'premium' options in GPS (Global Positioning System) Units, lowered the price, and made a reliably handy locator...

Pros: Easy to use, great price
Cons: Backlighting can eat up batteries
The Bottom Line: If you are into hiking or day-long hunting or fishing trips, then you should seriously consider this GPS.
Review: I recently was one of 5 people chosen to win one of these Garmin Etrex GPS from a contest with DatingCash.com. I have an affiliate account with them through my website MyExSucks.com, and every month they pick 5 affiliates for prizes. I had no idea I...

Pros: Big screen, nice interface, lots of features, sturdy design.
Cons: Battery eater, Aerial not great
The Bottom Line: I would reccommend it to anyone who wants a GPS and doesnt have too much to spend or doesnt require downloadable maps.
Review: I've seen lots of reviews that say it doesnt work under trees, which is true but if you stand still for about 30 seconds it will get the signal back. It isnt great at getting a signal while moving but standing still it works alot better, even upstairs ...

Pros: Easy to use. Quick to pick up and take.
Cons: It does not have voice recognition -hah
The Bottom Line: You can do better but it will cost you more. This is
useful for a child even. So don't hesitate buying it.
Review: This was the first GPS I ever bought and although I later bought the Emap from Garmin one of the reasons I invested in another Garmin is because of the quality of this unit. WATERPROOF I didn't drop it into 10' of water to see for sure. But just ...

Pros: Great starter GPS, easy-to-use, rugged, long battery life, well-appointed at just $79.
Cons: Poor track line granularity.
The Bottom Line: This is a good buy for novices to GPS. This unit is easy-to-use, versatile, and rugged. There is very little downside to eTrex personal navigator.
Review: I figured it was about time I picked up some sort of inexpensive GPS device that provided basic GPS functions but was easy to learn how to use. Stopping at BestBuy, they featured the full eTrex line. Being on a budget, I chose the eTrex personal ...

Pros: Reliable, simple, sturdy, cheap($), nice features. Will get you where you want to be!
Cons: Lanyard location, track-log (if not saved, can overwrite from beginning).
The Bottom Line: If you want to get to a specific area (or return to one) and are not really interested in mapping features of higher-priced models, then get the Etrex!
Review: I (legally) ride a dirt bike deep within a forest. Three years ago I got lost and almost spent the night! That happened once and I repeat once, because since then, I mount my Etrex on my dirt bike every-time I go out riding in the forest. I also use it...

Pros: Great value. Some nice features. Good usability.
Cons: None, at this price.
The Bottom Line: Excellent. If you don't need fancy features like built-in maps or bluetooth, this is for you.
Review: I bought mine, I would guess, about five years ago. It's still going strong and I've not been tempted to upgrade. I use it mostly for hiking, but have also used to it to measure distance on my training runs, on my bike, and while driving. I won't go ...

Pros: easy to use click stick, memory, enhanced display.
Cons: pretty green color will make it hard to find if you foolishly lay it down.
The Bottom Line: Small size, ease of use (click-stick), multiple routes, computer interface and a more detailed display make the eTrex Venture an attractive upgrade to the basic eTrex model.
Review: Since there is no listing for the eTrex Venture I have reviewed it here since this is Garmin¡¦s the next step up from the popular bright yellow eTrex entry level model that is so popular. While the going street price on the basic eTrex model is now down ...
