A Sound Bargain

by   bilavideo ,  Feb 13, 2008
Pros: inspired open-air design, cheap price
Cons: not as good as Grado's top-of-the-line
The Bottom Line: In my opinion, these are the best value Grado has.
Review: These are the first Grados I ever bought. I'm not sure I qualify as a textbook "audiophile," but I have taken back almost every pair of headphones I have ever bought - and usually within 24 hours of their purchase. Why? Because most headphones just ...

Make music come alive with a pair of Grado SR-80

by   vcustudent ,  Feb 25, 2004
Pros: Clean clear sound. Even seperation. Unbeatable deal for less than $100
Cons: Sound leakage, a little uncomfortable after long usage, revealing of poor recordings
The Bottom Line: The best sub-$100 headphones you will every buy, the Grado SR080 is in a class all its own.
Review: After reading hundreds of raving reviews about the Grado SR-80, I decided that I would take the plunge into high quality audio. While I wouldn't concider myself an expert in the world of high end audio, I have always been a proponent of aftermarket audio ...

Cons: Somewhat bright, Uncomfortable to some
The Bottom Line: Read
Review: *Updated for greater accuracy Before further commenting on the Grado SR-80, I must first say that I have owned numerous headphones in the past few years. Most, however, only acted as a catalyst to my appreciation for exceptional sound. They merely ...

When Accuracy Matters

by   markzilla ,  Mar 14, 2002
Pros: Increadible clarity and accuracy
Cons: Very uncomfortable
The Bottom Line: If you want to hear accurate music, or are in a professional situation buy these. If you're addicted to your subwoofer, you might want to pass.
Review: I come to this review as a musician of 10 years with some professional recording experience.

I was looking for headphones for practicing in my apartment. The headphone I currently own (AKG K-300's) I bought years ago and bought them because...

by   Astralmind ,  Apr 9, 2002
Pros: Value, excellent sound quality, did I mentioned value ?
Cons: a look that might not please everybody and somewhat uncomfortable
The Bottom Line: You simply can't get anything better for that price. Stop looking around :)
Review: People are funny, they buy a 300 $ top of the line portable audio device and use the bundeled ear buds and expect great sound (that's what they paid for, right ?). Well, it's time to wakeup guys! The SR 80 may not be suited for portability but they sure...

Grado SR80's are one of best cans up to $300

by   av_specialist ,  Apr 20, 2006
Pros: Comfortable. Un-fatiguing and natural sound quality. Open and large soundstage.
Cons: Materials used are not as plushed. Need a bit more jiuce to get going.
The Bottom Line: Great headphones for the money if you can overlook the bulky look. Open, airy soundstage. Comfortable.
Review: Seems that everyone who has an opinion without qualifications can write a review. I have been in the audio business for 30 some years (Yes, I was involved with High-end audio since I was quite young), and for anyone to say that a pair of Sony earbuds ...

The (Finally) Perfect $100 Reference Headphone

by   violeta88 ,  Aug 30, 2001
Pros: New comfy earpads!!! Great sound Under $100
Cons: Cheesy looks
The Bottom Line: Excellent. Truly the winning $100 headphone on the market for both sound and comfort.
Review: The Grado SR-80 has long been known as the sound winner in the $100 price range but the earpads sucked. Well, that has just changed. You see folks, I just bought a pair and mine were shipped with Grado's comfy earpads. And they did not degrade the...

by   LetItRut ,  Mar 5, 2002
Pros: Clear, detailed sound
Cons: Not as comfortable as some other headphones
The Bottom Line: Overall, the Grado SR-80's are worth the extra $20~$25 over the SR-60's.
Review: Three months ago I bought a pair of Grado SR-80's, and had been running them in for close to 40 hours. I have never been more satisfied (for the price that I paid for them) in my life! Here is my review:
