The Grundig S350 Brings In Weak Radio Stations Like They're Next Door

by   cowboyind ,  Oct 3, 2004
Pros: Best AM and FM reception you can get, nicely designed controls, good sound quality
Cons: Serious shortwave listeners might prefer a radio that will receive single-sideband transmissions
The Bottom Line: Incredible AM and FM reception makes distant stations sound close. Well designed controls, very good sound. If you love listening to the radio, you'll love the S350.
Review: If you have a favorite radio talk show or distant station that no normal radio will receive clearly, your troubles may be over. The Grundig S350 is a high performance portable radio that has the sensitivity to make distant radio stations sound like ...

Great Radio!!!

by   kebsr ,  Jan 17, 2005
Pros: Excellent reception Very Good sound Easy to operate
Cons: A little bit of drift in the tuner when the unit is cold.
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent radio for someone that would like to start listening to shortwave broadcasts.
Review: First I will say that I am new to all this radio stuff. I am kind of a "Techno Geek" and I heard a report on NPR about the Shortwave Number Stations a few months back. My wife asked what I wanted for Christmas and I gave her a short list with a shortwave ...

Excellent Reception on AM, great traveler.

by   r2bob ,  Oct 30, 2005
Pros: AM reception is outstanding, great for the RVer.
Cons: Style is too military and dated.
Review: I was given this radio as a present to take in my RV and it has been all over the country. It has outstanding AM reception and selectivity and very good tone. FM reception is very good, and the SW reception is good for a "non-ham" type radio. It is ...

Very, very happy

by   cfaulstick ,  Nov 29, 2005
Pros: Reception; great sound from speaker; sturdy antenna is refreshing feature on a portable radio
Cons: Store display dial tuner was wobbly; online registration was dead end, no Grundig help
Review: I purchased the S350 after returning a previously purchased Grundig G2000A and am I ever glad I switched. The S350 is what the G2000A is not: a great radio for someone who, like myself, is just getting into listening to shortwave. Its sensitivity is ...

Grundig S350 vs. Tivoli Model One

by   jkwasnik ,  Aug 2, 2004
Pros: VERY good sensitivity and selectivity; built-in antenna great
Cons: not-so-great sound quality (designed for short wave); bug-type transformer AC adapter.
Review: What I wanted for my cubicle at work was an FM radio with high sensitivity and selectivity, so I could pull in the weak college and community radio stations to the left of the dial. We listen on earphones at work, so the speaker performance doesn't ...

auto-off function easy to change

by   tv_casualty ,  Feb 26, 2007
Pros: Great sound, nice handle, batteries last a long time, great for band-scanning (no chuffing)
Cons: Switches seem cheap, drifting, no dedicated clock
The Bottom Line: Great sound at a great price. There are better shortwave radios out there but not at this price. A fun package with above average performance.
Review: People like to complain about the auto off feature on this radio that puts the radio into sleep mode when it is turned on, activating a 90 minute count down. But if you push and HOLD the power button for a second longer it turns this feature off and ...

Good compromise, but not a great one.

by   dmk9561 ,  Oct 14, 2008
Pros: Sensitivity, outputs, battery life, simplicity
Cons: Ridiculous clock, station drift
The Bottom Line: A good radio with some real flaws.  Not perfect for everyone, but exactly what some people would like.
Review: I like the S350. I really do, but I have to admit its numerous faults. I own both the Grundig version and the Tecsun version which seems to be (ahem) on long-term loan to a friend of mine. If there is a difference, I will note them.< p> The ...

Grundig shortwave portable radio

by   cheetah1 ,  May 23, 2004
Pros: A great alternative for buyers looking for something different in a shortwave radio
Cons: small speaker is a poor performer outdoors
The Bottom Line: This radio is a bit more retro with it's styling and functions compared to other shortwave radios but that's where it's charm lies
Review: This is a review of the Grundig S350 shortwave radio that I have owned for 3 years. I have decided to rewrite the original review. The radio is a bit larger than the average sized shortwave radio. It runs off of 4 D size batteries which are needed ...

Good Radio, but not a miracle worker

by   sailingshot ,  Dec 23, 2004
Pros: Good sound and feature set for the price.
Cons: A bit large for a travel radio.
Review: This is a nice radio with good sound, especially compared to the more popular "flat" style radios. Runs forever on batteries, excellent reception. Sitting next to the highly rated Panasonic RF2200, the Grundig was able to pull in AM stations about as ...

Beware of the Auto-Off function

by   gidgetcctx ,  Jan 16, 2006
Pros: Good design, easy-to-use buttons and knobs, especially for the (mildly) visually impaired.
Cons: Auto-Off function that cannot be disabled.
Review: Bought this radio for my mother, who likes to have AM radio going all night long while she sleeps. Unfortunately this radio shuts itself off after 90 minutes and there is no way to turn this feature off. Otherwise it seemed like a great product, but ...
