I like my iFinderGo

by   BDuke ,  Nov 25, 2005
Pros: Good price, lots of features, easy to learn, 92 page operating guide free on line.
Cons: Maybe a little too compact.
Review: Lowrance's iFinderGo(16MB) is a stripped down version of their iFinder line of handheld GPS receivers. It lacks the ability to communicate with other electronics or to save, read and store data on MMCs. It lacks an external antenna. However,it has ...

A good "first GPS" for a hiker, boater, or novice geocacher

by   hairymon ,  Mar 8, 2006
Pros: Battery life, satellite reception, WAAS accuracy, price, economical in general
Cons: Small screen, poor documentation, not very intuitive for an entry-level GPS
The Bottom Line: Good but not perfect for a GPS lover on a budget and/or a newbie to GPS
Review: I have been using a Whistler Galileo for both geocaching and in my car (though it is a handheld, it is really somewhat more car-oriented). The screen broke, and the extended warranty company is deciding whether to replace it vs. reimbursing me what I ...

Bang on the money

by   mikeroch ,  Apr 21, 2007
Pros: Cheap, bright, tough, sensitive, excellent battery life, displays location info easily.
Cons: Fragile / easily-lost battery cover. Occasionally needs a reset to whip it back into line.
The Bottom Line: At this price and specification you can forgive its occasional moments of ill discipline. Master that RESET procedure!
Review: Cheapest decently specified GPS available in the UK so absolutely the Best Bang for your Buck available. Simply packaged with no fancy owner manual to hike the overall price (it's on CDR), it achieved a fix from cold in about a minute straight out of ...

Good deal for the cost

by   wr88 ,  Oct 23, 2005
Pros: Low Cost, Records a large number of waypoints & trails, good battery life.
Cons: No computer interface cable available. Small screen size.
The Bottom Line: Good unit for low cost, if computer interface is not needed.
Review: This is my first gps unit, and it seems to work very well. I had problems with the first unit I had, but the replacement unit has been fine. It keeps a good lock even under heavy tree cover, and I have used it in the car with a vent mounted cell ...

Good Performance for a low-end unit

by   brettkjell ,  Nov 28, 2005
Pros: Fast satellite acquisition 60sec. Long battery life. Inexpensive. Great 2nd unit or for beginners
Cons: Limited mapping ability. No uploadable mapping.
The Bottom Line: Getting started in GPS and you are not sure of what you want or need, or you need a backup to your expensive primary, this is your unit.
Review: I purchased this unit at a local hardware store as a thanksgiving day sale blowout as a backup GPS. I was not expecting much but was very pleased with the performance at a price that was just a little more than the price for other GPSs' car adapters. ...

Not useful for GPS, but makes a good battery tester.

by   baddolphin ,  Jul 23, 2008
Pros: It is useful as a battery tester.
Cons: It is not useful as a GPS device.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend avoiding this particular model simply because it simply doesn't work.
Review: I was thrilled when I was given a GPS unit by my employer, rewarding me for years of service. My primary use would be for hiking... however, I've been unable to use it at all. It always takes at least 15 minutes, and usually closer to a half hour, ...

Lowrance i finder go

by   misinformed ,  Aug 7, 2008
Pros: Very good price
Cons: Wont last very long it has MAJOR FAULTS!
Review: This was the first Lowrance I have bought. The thing has frozen on the first screen. I have tried all the recommended fixes none work. It is not worth the money. Upon checking other web sites I find this is a common problem with this unit. Save your ...

Buy this...and get lost!

by   gdzepinions ,  Aug 26, 2005
Pros: A lot for your money (when it works).
Cons: Freeze up after a minute or so. Zero customer service
Review: Needing a water resistant low cost, light weight GPS for a long distance trekking trip, the iFinderGo seemed to give the more bang for the buck. Out of the box, it was "stuck" in factory testing mode. Calls and emails to customer service were not ...
