by   vemartin , top reviewer in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Mar 30, 2005
Pros: Easy to install; small footprint; fast printing speed.
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Hp has done it again; this printer is ideally suited for cubicles and the home office environment.
Review: Laser printers, no matter their make or model, have an effective life of no more then six years, after which they start to deteriorate at a noticeable clip. Such was the case with our installed base of Lexmark Opera E small foot print laserjet ...

Business Space Saving

by   nachodehopkins ,  Feb 23, 2009
Pros: Easy setup, good print quality
Cons: Printing only
The Bottom Line: While just a printer in an increasingly multifunction world, this printer will impress those who require just the basics.
Review: The bakery in which I used to work had a small office downstairs to take care of all the non-delicious parts of the business. In addition to the small filing cabinet and small footprint computer wedged into the office, there was also a printer: the HP ...

by   pepper45322 ,  Apr 22, 2004
Pros: razor sharp text, fast, build quality for $149 is great, duplex, low noise, reliability
Cons: tool box is a joke causes problems, no USB cord, support is menu driven
The Bottom Line: If you print both text and graphics but no photos, then for a student or personal home use this is the bomb! My last Hp lasted 8 years! no repairs!
Review: OTHER CONSIDERATIONS I purchased the Hp 1012 to replace my older Hp 6L which lasted for 8 years (no paper jams, absolutely no problems). I considered the Hp 7690, Cannon 860i and Hp 5650 inkjets because I plan to make photos. Why go laser? Well, I am a ...

Inexpensive, fast and solidly built printer

by   spencer23 ,  May 24, 2004
Pros: Small size, fast printing, and Quiet
Cons: Open paper tray, expensive toner.
The Bottom Line: Recommended: It's easy to use and setup. Prints beautifully, quietly and takes up little space on your desk.
Review: I've gone through about 4 inkjet printers, all HP and the last one being an all-in-one multifunction. The reason I got rid of them is because the colour in just dried up after non-use. So I decided it was time to get a laser since all I need a printer ...

Practically Perfect Printer for Parsimonious Pros & Po' People!

by   tomminator ,  Jul 12, 2004
Pros: Parsimonious, Precise Print, Perfectly Priced, Pretty Package, Paltry (foot)Print
Cons: None so far, has exceeded my expectations, especially regarding 'noise pollution,' my current hot button!
The Bottom Line: Buy it, try it, Costco.com plies it! Certified bargain at $129, if $50 coupon deal's still running (was as of July '04). I'd even buy it at $179 regular price!
Review: What I instantly grooved on: 1: No fan... so absolutely noiseless when in standby. Not at all objectionable when actually printing...instantly noiseless again when printing complete. 2: Draws only 2 (two!) watts in standby. 3: Fast, first page ...

by   brad ,  Sep 9, 2004
Pros: HP quality and proven track record with its Laser Jet series.
Cons: Doesn't come with USB cable. Slightly more expensive.
The Bottom Line: I'll pay a slight premium for HP quality. I like this machine; it works great on my network.
Review: Howdy. I bought one of these suckers in May (2004). Previously, I had a Samsung ML-1430, which conked out on me. I wrote a review on the Samsung; gave it a glowing review and not long after it conked out. The Samsung lasted less than two years. ...

Hewlett Packard and Another Little Laser Printer that Could

by   Carazariah ,  Apr 26, 2005
Pros: Simple Setup, Fast Printing, Low Replaceable Cost, Still Supports Windows 98
Cons: No USB Cable included
The Bottom Line: For a Small Home Office, this is the Black and White Laser Printer for you. Low toner and replaceable cost and the HP brand reliability make it a sure thing.
Review: Pre-Opening This is a relatively new purchase for my local church office. The story of how this printer was chosen is an interesting one in itself but off topic for this review. If you want an idea, you may check out my link at the bottom ...

So Far So Good

by   goggoose ,  Nov 24, 2004
Pros: Inexpensive, compact, good quality output, cartridges widely available, HP are justly famous for their printers.
Cons: Throwing away drum with toner cartridge offends my ecological side. No HP cartridge recycling program.
The Bottom Line: An excellent little printer for moderate home use. No problems installing on a 350MHz PC with 256MB RAM, USB1.1, running Windows 2000 Pro.
Review: I'm not going to write a long review as others have done very comprehensive ones, but I'll add my experience. I had needed a better printer for a long time, my old HP694C (see separate review) seemed to be close to expiring. So when I saw an ad from ...
