THE BEST JAZZ ALBUM OF 1998

Pros: Incredible fusion of Latin sounds and jazz played by a masterful hero

The Bottom Line: There was no better album than this in 1998 and very few have equalled it since. For a great time, buy Sandoval's "Hot House".
Review: From the opening notes, you can feel the power and beauty of this album. This is the big band sound originally envisioned by Dizzy Gillespie and brought to fruition by one of the greatest trumpeters of all time. Arturo Sandoval didn't exactly languish...

Too Hot To Handle

Pros: A unique fusion of traditional Cuban-American melodies alongside straightahead jazz
Cons: It's too expensive in the UK!
The Bottom Line: 'Hot House', is possibly the best release from the US of 1998, and features some of the best arrangement and composition captured on album for a while
