The Navman iCN 510 - An Affordable In-Car GPS Navigation System

by   nc10 , top reviewer in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Apr 17, 2005
Pros: Excellent price/performance-feature ratio, accurate, fast routing, display and audio are very good
Cons: Requires a PC, limited printed documentation and web help, sometimes quirky data entry
The Bottom Line: A good choice for those with some "gadget skills" and looking for an expandable in-car gps navigation system with vioce guidance.
Review: The Navman Pocket iCN 510 is an excellent automobile GPS system housed in a PocketPC form factor, economically, but effectively designed with an acceptable minimum of “cut corners”. The Navman iCN 510 actually is a heavily modified ...

Great GPS for travellers

by   tekkster ,  Jan 6, 2005
Pros: fast, expandable, touch screen, light, flat, color
Cons: TeleAtlas map data not as good as Navtech, interface could be better
The Bottom Line: If you travel a lot to different cities and rent cars, get this or another memory expandable, touch screen, fast processor GPS. It is absolutely worth it.
Review: This is my second GPS. The first being the Garmin GPS V. QUICK REVIEW: I'm going to run a comparison between the GPS V and the Navman iCN510. But for those of you in the know, the better comparison for the Navman iCN510 is actually the ...

This is one of the better ones for under 400 bucks

by   jlkp2102 ,  Jan 30, 2005
Pros: affordable, compact, capable
Cons: not a perfect map system, start up glitch
The Bottom Line: I recommend it because It is compact, affordable and works the way it should.
Review: For several months, I researched portable GPS units since I want to use it in different cars. Portable GPS navigator can be used in any car and I like the fact that they are compact and lightweight. After researching, I started eyeing on iCN510 because ...

Great Unit, Some Mapping Flaws.

by   marcosbastian ,  Jan 21, 2006
Pros: Affordable Good Interface Great battery life
Cons: Outdated Mapping Appropriate for Automobile-Navigation only
The Bottom Line: GOOD unit if you are in a budget. Nice touch-screen and "back-on track" routing tool.
Review: I was very reluctant before purchasing this GPS, since it is a "PDA-based" unit, and My Toshiba 740 is notoriously unreliable and prone to lose data. I ended up buying one used on EBay for $300 and have been *mostly* happy with it since. Even though ...

Great Bargain mobile GPS

by   elmodorph ,  Jan 15, 2005
Pros: No monthly fee, Beautiful display, Fast, small yet visible, Color!
Cons: Can’t modify screens, No Odometers
The Bottom Line: I love it except the lack of a trip odometer, my friends are jealous and my wife will probably take it if I don't buy her one.
Review: My odometer broke and I started looking for an alternative. After reading the review by tekkster I purchased a Navman 510. If you want a perfect technical overview read his review. For 329 dollars, the Navman’s expandable memory and full accessory ...

Great screen & portability, need better maps

by   tahoepo ,  Jan 19, 2005
Pros: size, color touch screen, SD card, weight, integrated battery for short trips.
Cons: Tele Atlas map, POI, strange software search, louder speaker
The Bottom Line: It's a good gps but teleatlas needs to be improved. The big screen really made a difference for me.
Review: It's easy to tell this gps is based on PDA hardware. In that it has a really good color touch screen, light weight, SD card slot, 5 way pointer, integrated battery and 6 buttons. It's actually a variant of the MIO (Mitac) digi walk. Overall hardware is ...

Works Well.

by   yummittman ,  Mar 26, 2005
Pros: Size, screen, map detail, portability
Cons: Screen updates could be quicker, ETA not accurate
Review: I purchased my Navman about a month ago now. In Australia, it comes pre-loaded with the 2004 Sensis maps. I was very impressed with the operation and accuracy of the unit, not to mention the detail in the maps. I have permanantly installed the unit in ...

Navman iCN v/s other best in class

by   solk ,  Jan 15, 2005
Pros: Display, styling and touchscreen is good. Battery life is good for 4 hours. Solid mount
Cons: POI and address/door location has a way to go. Cannot force the speech.
Review: Opted for the Navman after using the Garmin iQue3600 for its attractive display and styling. Installation was a breeze. But it ended there. The address finder gives a range not the exact location. The POI was cumbersome to use at best. Mountain View ...

Works good but needs work to be perfect

by   geraldg9999 ,  Jan 22, 2005
Pros: Fast sat acquisition. Small size, nice mounting system
Cons: Current software is no good
Review: Bought mine from Outpost.com ($299.99!!) Received unit second day as promised. Don't forget to buy a memory card. The software that must be installed on your computer is not very user friendly but if you are computer literate, you will figure it out. ...
