So far, so good!

by   dmatsumo ,  Dec 12, 2004
Pros: It works! All cables included. USB connectivity is a plus.
Cons: Setup wasn't as plug-and-play as most users would like.
The Bottom Line: This KVM works well, video quality is good, and it'll save you from ergonomic-related problems!
Review: Recently, my wife has complained of arm pain from working. She works from our home office, and uses a laptop most of the time on her desk. She also has a standard desktop, and switching between the two has become a pain. Her desktop keyboard sits on ...

The IOGear GCS632U worked flawlessly between my PC and Mac Mini !

by   alanpgh ,  Sep 28, 2005
Pros: Easy connection to PC and Mac Mini; Keyboard toggle works in MAC & PC Modes.
Cons: None Found so far.
Review: This unit from IOGEAR worked great right out of the box. Scroll lock key allows switching between Mac Mini and PC. Sound also switches with no problems. This was a big step forward from an older Belkin KVM switch which sometimes did not work. I ...

A telecommuter's dream!

by   azskibum ,  Apr 8, 2008
Pros: Ease of use, quality.
Cons: Can't think of any.
Review: I bought the IOGear GCS632U to simplify telecommuting. I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse and a 24" widescreen monitor that I want to use with my company laptop. This IOGear KVM makes this a breeze. I plugged the single USB from the wireless ...

Absolutely flawless!

by   severisth ,  Jul 31, 2006
Pros: Super-simple installation, easy-to-read manual, no-delay switching, works great with headphones
Cons: None
Review: After spending 5 minutes glancing through the manual on IOGear's website, I was ready to plug the setup in as an educated user. Following the few instructions needed to set it up properly, it took about 20 minutes (mostly because I'm a wire routing ...

How to Create a Computer Menage a Trois

by   pvreditor ,  Oct 22, 2006
Pros: Switches flawlessly; requires no drivers or power supply; easy to connect
Cons: Slight degradation of the VGA signal
The Bottom Line: Other than slight ghosting in the VGA signal, the GCS632U works very well. Setup was a snap and the unit switches the keyboard, mouse and audio perfectly.
Review: I recently bought a very sleek widescreen LCD computer monitor and used it to replace two CRT monitors that made a marginal widescreen display. The problem was that I have two computers on this desk (a tower and a laptop) and both need to share the ...

Recommended for all except audiophiles

by   aclawson ,  Jan 9, 2005
Pros: small, keyboard/mouse emulation, scrollwheel support, linux support, keyboard toggle intercept
Cons: Cable layout; audio distortion; keyboard USB hub difficulty; no physical toggle or shared microphone line
The Bottom Line: Acceptable for many users; audiophiles and/or people needing a shared microphone should look elsewhere.
Review: Having had bad luck with a Belkin USB kvm I picked up this model - the only 2 port USB+audio that was in stock at the local Best Buy. The device is made of a molded rubberish plastic with permanently attached to-computer cables extending out one side. ...

IOGEAR (GCS632U) 2-Port KVM Switch

by   sxg-macweenie ,  Sep 23, 2006
Pros: Plug 'n play. Easy to use. USB KB/Mouse support. Shared audio.
Cons: Mild Video ghosting.
Review: I have been using this unit for a couple of years with a G4 Mac OSX (10.1.x, 10.2.x and 10.4.x) and WinXP PC. Video quality is good, but there is ghosting on my 17" LCD display. I have experienced the mac coming up in 800x600, but that generally occurs ...

Audio pass thru doesn't work

by   catalano ,  Aug 14, 2004
Pros: Video switches ok
Cons: Horrible audio support. Can't use USB ports on keyboard
Review: I recently purchased the unit to use on 2 modern Macs. The switching works pretty much as advertised except for the audio switching. This is absolutely horrible. The audio signal that passes thru the unit is attenuated so much that it is barely ...

Intermittently repeats keys, sometimes locks up

by   meyerszoo ,  Oct 11, 2006
Pros: Very small, very nice to use - when it works.
Cons: Inconsistent. Repeats keystrokes sometimes. Locks up sometimes.
Review: I had a bit of a hard time getting this to work initially. I plugged everything in, and the keyboard would not work. I switched the mouse and keyboard around, and then the mouse wouldn't work. Eventually, I got lucky and it started working. I ...

Major bone-headed design issue

by   spoken ,  Feb 26, 2005
Pros: Assume this does the job with a PC USB keyboard
Cons: Worthless with a Mac USB keyboard due to choice of hotkeys
Review: No doubt the KVM switch works fine when used with a USB PC layout keyboard. But the default hot-key is [Scroll Lock], a key missing from a Mac keyboard. Wait, though - the manual tells you that if scroll-lock is missing from your keyboard, then simply ...
